They installed the new furnace in December 2010 and I am still dealing with them because it does not work correctly.  They've come out 4 times each year since it was installed and each time is not fixed correctly.  I had them out to service it in February 2013 with a $175 service charge and I'm already experiencing another problem with it.  The service is horrid. It is  a pretty expensive furnace that still doesn't work.

Issues during and subsequent to the installation:
1. The drilling work was subcontracted, The drilling was conducted during a period when I was not home to observe. That was not an issue.  However, upon return a week later, I found a large area of drilling residue on the grass.  It had dried to a concrete like layer between 1/4" and 1/2" thick.  It covered an area twenty to forty feet in diameter around each hole. A trench was later dug to connect the drilled holes.  When that trench was refilled much of dried residue was scraped into the trench.
2. A trench was dug to install the refrigerant lines between the drilled holes and house. Refrigerant lines were installed, and the trench refilled. The fill overflowed one to two feet higher than the original surface of the lawn. I was told this was to be expected, that the fill would settle to ground level.  The summer has been very dry.  With hand watering the fill has settled about 50% in 6 months but certainly not enough to allow replanting of the grass.
3. The trench was hand dug under the foundation to allow connecting the geothermal refrigerant lines to the geothermal unit. Before refilling I asked that additional effort be made to waterproof the under-foundation trenched area.  Three months later, after a very heavy rain, standing water appeared in the crawl space. I was hoping this issue would be resolved when the trench fill has fully settled.  I have not yet asked for assistance.
 
I have been very impressed by the professionalism of Fowler Heating and Cooling.  This includes all workers, and the sales staff personnel. Prior to, during installation, and in follow-up service to this new geothermal heating and cooling system they have been excellent. That is not to say there were no installation or service problems, but those that have occurred have been very professionally handled.

We woke up to no heat in our home this a.m. (Saturday).  The pressure switch was not working and was replaced by Harvie L (Technician).  He was very professional, courteous and responsive to the need of our home being without heat.  I appreciate this company and their work ethics/values.  From the dealings that we've had with Fowler Heating, this work ethic and the importance of adhering to core values is instilled in all technicians and obviously comes from the owner down to all employees.  What a refreshing and pleasant experience to find such qualities still present in the industry today.  Thank you.

After failing to get a call back from the company we have used for 10 years, I decided it was time to give someone else a try.  I am so glad that I did.  The call was answered after 2 rings, the representative was nice, the dispatcher was excellent and scheduled an appointment for later in the afternoon.  I received a call back within 30 minutes to bump the appointment up due to a recent cancellation!!  The technician arrived on time, diagnosed the problem quickly, fixed it swiftly, checked his work by making sure the heating came on and worked properly and was gone.  Why didn't I do this before???  It will be Fowler Heating & Cooling from now on!!

We have been with Fowler's Heating & Cooling for over 13 years.  From the very beginning the experts with Fowler's have been by our side from the design to the installation of our Geo Thermal unit.  We have experience some trouble over the years with our unit but, in no way was it any fault of Fowlers.  We highly recommend buying Fowler's service plan that will guarantee that your heating/cooling system will be serviced "cleaned/inspected" twice a year.  The quality of service you receive from Fowler's service men is above and beyond our expectations.

We had noticed that the house was getting really warm one night and in the morning we noticed that we were getting hot air!  We called Fowler at 8am and they were able to get an appointment for us that day at 10am. We had called another company that had said the whole unit was going to have to be replaced and that we would have to wait through the weekend. Fowler was early for the appointment and ready to go. The guy was able to locate the part that was broken and had a replacement part in his truck. He was able to get it changed out and we had air up and running 15 minutes later! The Fowler employee was very courteous and personable. I was very impressed! The total that we spent, $271, included the $99 service call, the part, and the labor.

I called Fowler for a second opinion after another company concluded that my boiler was not safe to operate due to fluctuating carbon monoxide levels (see my other Angie?s List reports). They were able to schedule a safety inspection in a very short time. Tony came out at the end of the day on a Friday to check my boiler for carbon monoxide. He started the boiler and checked for carbon monoxide (none found). While he waited for the system to get warmed up, he tinkered with some of the valves (released some trapped air from the system, etc.) and explained to me a few things about how the boiler operates, what the various valves were, etc. After the system had been running for a while, he again checked for carbon monoxide in several places. He showed me that he only found carbon monoxide (10 ppm) if he placed the nose of the carbon monoxide detector right above the burners inside the boiler. He further commented that brand new boilers produce that amount of carbon monoxide detectable in that location (it subsequently disperses as it typically goes up the flue and out of the house). He also showed me that no carbon monoxide was detected outside of the boiler. Tony took the time to do a thorough inspection of the system and to show me the carbon monoxide readings to allay my concern.

Everyone we dealt with was friendly, courteous, and professional. We called to schedule a consultation, and they sent someone to meet with us within 2 days. They provided us with an estimate for 3 different types of units, and gave us information for applicable rebates. Once we decided which unit to purchase, they were able to complete the installation the next week. The installation took 2 days because of the amount of work required. The technicians arrived exactly when they said they would, worked all day, barely took breaks, and were very professional. They used drop cloths and shoe covers to decrease the mess, which I appreciated. When the work was complete, the service technicians showed me exactly what they had done, and explained the digital thermostat. A few weeks later, our old unit started making strange noises. I called the company, and they sent a technician that afternoon to come & inspect it. He determined the source of the noise & made the repair in about 15 minutes. This is an excellent company that clearly knows what they are doing. If you are looking for quality installation of equipment and first-rate customer service, then you need to use this company.
