They asked for half down on the garage and began work.  They asked for a cashier's check made in the wife's name, which should have been a red flag.   They began work on the garage and did about 90% of the job when they asked for the final payment.
I went ahead and paid and they promised to finish up the next 10% with in the next few days.  As they had my trust, we hired them to build us a deck too. THey asked for half down again and then never reappeared.   First there were excuses, but then they stopped taking our calls.  They never finished the garage and never came to build a deck.  We eventually hired a lawyer, spending even more money. Even though we won, we've never seen any money.   It was a big disappointment.  I consider this stealing!

They asked for half upfront in the form of a cashiers check. They built the garage 90% then asked for the second half plus half for the deck. They never finished the last 10% of the garage and never came back to build the deck. We sued them and won. They never showed up in court and still have never paid us our settlement. Yet they continue to do work around town here locally. They basically stole 2500 dollars from us.
