Last year a home improvement contractor in Madison WI completely botched our project for five replacement windows. The largest one was too short by 2" on each side, two smaller ones weren't to code - didn't include tempered glass that was called for in the contract, and none of them were finished correctly inside and out. A call to the manufacturer connected us to Kobyco. From our first contact with sales consultant Roy to installation last week with Jay and crew, we couldn't be happier with their great communication, showing up on time and professional-level work. Our home was architecturally designed and built in 1954 and the windows had to have finish work that maintained the integrity of a "set in" look. This install was done perfectly, and we couldn't be more pleased. Beautiful windows! Would definitely hire again.

after opening the bathroom window about two dozen times, the screw came out from the bottom of the unit,,,,the company told me that for another $100 they would fix it or i could save the money and just do it myself. poor quality and poor customer service.

As a woman hiring professionals to complete work on her home, I sometimes feel like I am treated differently than a man would be in the same situation, but that was not the case with Kobyco. They replaced two windows for me and I could not be happier. From taking the measurements to the final installation they were extremely professional. Everything happened according to schedule, the installers were quick but thorough and answered all of my questions. I love my new windows and am looking forward to having them do some more replacements for me next year.

I had been getting quotes from a few vendors. I was looking for a company that hires their own crew, not contracted crew.
Gary quoted the the project, suggested some alternative options. We agreed on a quote & ordered the windows.
He did call saying the factory had problems getting material so the install date was pushed back. That was not a problem for us. When windows arrived, his crew installed them as per quote. The crew was easy to work with. Installation was completed on schedule. There was a issue with a couple of screens that was taken care of promptly.
We have been through one winter & I could tell these windows didn't radiate the cold like like the Anderson Casements installed in 1967 did.

I had two windows I knew needed to be replaced, and I had interviewed several providers in the Rockford area. As a working engineer, Kobyco was the only provider whose explanation of service made sense. They removed the previous replacement windows and stripped the casements down to the new construction framing. This gave us both more window in the same area as well as a much more secure and weather proof fitting.
The difference is amazing! These windows are directly underneath my kitchen's hardwood floor. In previous winters, I had considered upgrading to a heated floor, but already this year it's much warmer than any time previously. On the few hot days we had after upgrading the windows, their insides remained cool, and so did my basement. In short, they're doing what windows are supposed to do: allowing me to see the weather without having to experience it.
Kobyco's employees were a joy to work with. Not only were they extraordinarily professional and excellent at their jobs, they were also very respectful of our flower beds outside the windows. They were here for several hours, and not a single plant was damaged. The vinyl surrounds were properly mitre cut, rather than the usual squared off finish that looks so cheap. There were a ton of other little details they did the right way, too, but I digress. Basically, they replaced these windows using the same care and attention to detail I use when working on my own home.
For anyone shopping in the Rockford area, remember, you get what you pay for. I may have paid a bit more than I would have with another window provider, but I'm also not going to have to replace these windows in the next twenty years. That's worth every penny to me, as my home is my biggest investment. I will be going back to Kobyco for all my future window needs.

They were pretty good, one window leaked, but they came back and redid it, and it has been fine every since. I wasn't too happy about the leak. Any time I had a problem or anything, they were right here. The weather stripping they had put on my door came out for some reason, and he came back and redid it.

The installers did a great job. Very professional. Kobyco can be on the expensive side but they do such great work. I have used them twice now. Never a problem.

All went well till the very end. After installation the windows appeared greasy and had a substance like caulk or grease on the outside of them. Salesman did respond but we were told the windows would clean up easily. Owner tried twice getting some of the stuff off windows. Calls to owner of company were not returned. We had to have a professional window cleaner come and clean the windows. We felt that the company (Kobyco) should have volunteered to have this done. Obiviously they do not care about customer satisfaction. I would not have them do any more work for me....

Response from Kobyco Door & Window
"We replaced one special size patio door and two large windows for the Thorns on September 16th, 2013. Member called our office on September 17th and asked her sales rep what she should use to do a final cleaning on the glass. He informed her to use a Mr. Clean magic eraser, because we have found the product to be very effective at removing dirt and debri off the glass and frames. Later the same day, Mrs. Thorn called our office again to let us know that she still was having a hard time removing the marks on her glass. We set up an appointment the same day with her to look at the so called marks on the glass on September 24th. Normally we schedule a service call with 48 hours to inspect a job, but in this case, the owner wanted to see the job to make sure that there wasn't a problem with the glass. He was out of town until September 23, so the appointment was set for 9:00 AM on the 24th. We did not receive multiple calls she claims and her call was answered and set immediately. The owner arrived on the 24th to inspect the windows and patio door. The windows and doors worked properly. When she pointed out the glass she couldn't clean, the owner used a Magic Eraser in one swipe and removed the dirt with no effort and no liquid cleaner. He showed her that this was nothing but surface dirt that was easily removed with the product we recommended. He informed her that our crews remove the manufacturers stickers, but the final cleaning is up to the homeowner because "clean" glass is a relative term, depending on who is looking at the glass. We document every single phone call going out of and to our office through our carrier so we can track and evaluate our office staff and their performance, so member's claim that her calls were not returned is misleading at best. We do the same with our E mails and we show no record of ever receiving an E mail from the the members. When she called our office she commented to our office staff that our full time installation crew was pleasant and professional and that we needed to have more signage so the neighbors could see what quality work we do. Everything was working properly and the product was performing well. She states in her complaint that she paid too much for the product, but then says that she couldn't get anyone else to give her a quote. She forgot to mention that we have a lowest price guarantee in writing, based on estimates of the same quality product. In the above comments, she says that the job was well done. Her last comment about having a contractor put in writing "that they will clean windows when complete to your satisfaction" is an item that no contractor will ever agree to due to the realization, as stated before, that "clean" is a relative term that has a broad meaning to every individual. We find it amazing that, for the last thirty years, we have seen homeowners taken advantage of with shoddy products and poor installations and we have a customer that agrees that we did a great job at that, but she will give us a F rating because she could not clean her own glass. We don't know of many home owners that have their residential glass cleaned by professional glass cleaners because it is such an easy job. We will let our reputation speak for itself. Look at the other reviews here and other sites and our A+ rating elsewhere and then call us to get the names of our other thousands of residential customers and commercial jobs completed over the span of thirty years to get the real and honest overall ratings from our customers."

They were excellent. Everything about them was good. Their sales rep came out with a photo album of windows, doors and siding. I was ordering windows for a bedroom and I had a kind of fake bay window in the room and I did not want to stay with the bay window as I wanted to do sliders. I asked him what are my options and he made several excellent suggestions. He had actually photo albums, he said, "well this is what this looks likes inside and outside, and this is what the other one looks like, and this is what this looks like." I had two other window services come and give me estimates and stuff too, it was not like I was just persuaded by him, when I asked the question what are my options for this window and he was the only one who gave me suggestions. He gave me the consultation that I expected as being a customer looking to purchase a new product especially for my home. I was very impressed. I had done some other windows with another company, whom I would not ever go with again. He did the measurements; the owner of the company came out and remeasured, where they were ordered. They were installed within a month. The whole thing was done within 30 days. They kind of reconstructed the frame. Within 2.5 hours they had taken out and installed seven double hung windows and I did not pay any labor or anything, I just paid for the windows. They were pricey, but they did an excellent job, it was timely and they cleaned up. I would never go with anybody again, but them. They were fabulous all across the board.

From the very first meeting at the home show we felt very comfortable with Mike and Scott that we talked to there. Mike followed up with a phone call just as he said would and made an appt. To come out to the house to measure windows and discuss what we had in mind to do. During that visit, he made some really great suggestions as to a couple of styles of windows as far as curb appeal and functionality. He left after measurements and a short visit and told us he'd have a cost first thing the next morning of which he did. My wife and I both remarked as to how pleased we were and comfortable we felt. No hard sell!! We visited the showroom twice after to confirm our color choice and all the guys there were more than helpful. The windows and doors were all replaced in a 2 day period and all went extremely well. They left the interior and the exterior as if they hadn't been there. We have a lot of landscaping and plantings around and under all the windows and when done all were untouched. We can't believe how  the new windows have cut down on the outside noise. The suns glare inside the house in the mornings and afternoon is so much easier on the eyes due to the windows tinting of which I would highly recommend. Thanks to mike the huge window in the dining area now is a sliding window and coffee in the mornings listening to the birds at the feeders is awesome. Thanks again to all involved, Jeff/Glenda

Sales person came out and measured patio
door and gave me a price in mid Nov. Excepted price at 1800.00.
Approximately a week later an installation person came out to house and verified door opening before order
sent in to have patio door made.
My current patio door was larger than the standard 6 ft. door. The house was
built with option of using French doors or a patio door so the opening was
larger than standard.
Was quoted delivery and installation mid-January.
Received call from KOBYCO mid-week of Dec 10 that installation would take place
Dec 17, 2012 at 8:30 AM
Installation crew arrived around 8:40 AM and started taking old patio door out
and installing new one.
Old patio door removed.
The new patio door required a new frame be built to secure it.
Installed weather stripping along bottom of new frame before patio door installation.
Installed new Patio door.  Opening to outside closed in about 30-45 min.
The sliding door in the new patio door had to be left open for them to come and
go from kitchen to outside so furnace was off for about 1 - 1 1/2 hours.
Check door frame for square and adjusted as much as possible. The problem was
the frame was so tight to the new patio door there was not much adjusting
available.
Insulated with foam around outer and inner patio door frame.
Installed previous molding removed during removal of old patio door.
If I have any complaint it is being not being carefully enough to detail in the
installation of the inside molding.
The outside aluminum trim for frame was expertly done and great attention to
detail was obvious.
Job was finished within about 3 - 3 1/2 hours.
The patio screen did not have the required lock that I purchased so that is
still to be installed.
Cleaned up all the old patio door and miscellaneous pieces left over from installation
Over all the job was done very well and efficiently
and I have had no complaints with installation or door.  Date 12/28/2012

They were quick and efficient. They cleaned up and looked good. They weren't the cheapest on the block but it was worth what I paid.
