Just fine.  I believe that the water filtration system is simply unnecessary.  Geneva put in a new water treatment plant several years ago, making this very expensive whole house water treatment system superfluous.  A fridge filter for drinking water now suffices; no need for salt, muliple filters, etc.

went well, no snags

My water softener (which I had purchased from Ecowater Systems in 2001) made a clunking noise and demanded service. James came out to check it out, and I could see that the teeth on one of the gears had broken off. Something was jammed on the inside of the unit. I had also been seeing a lot of water in the unit, which should not be the case. He said it could be repaired, but it was going to cost probably half of what it would for a new one, and I would still  have the old softening cylinder--which would probably need replacing soon because of its age--and there was still the problem of the water in the unit. So I decided to buy a new one as I had been very satisfied with the old unit I had bought from them. He came back that same afternoon with another man because he would need help carrying the unit out of the basement because of the all the sludge and water in the bottom, although he removed as much as possible. They installed the new unit, which is a two-piece unit, so it should not have the problem of salt bridging, threw in a bag of salt, and it has been working fine so far. They took away the old unit. They were very prompt--for both the service call in the morning and the installation call in the afternoon--and I was not charged for the service call because I bought the new unit. My old unit was an "on demand" unit, so it recharged when necessary; and, at the time I bought it, most softeners still had to be set for certain days to regenerate. I have saved a lot of money on salt because of that, and the new unit will do the same. (I understand most softeners are that way now, but when I bought my first one, that was not the case.)  I have been very satisfied with the service I have received from Ecowater Systems and would recommend them to others. They were friendly and professional, and James explained things very clearly. They were not inexpensive, but their product has been very high quality.

James Schwab first came on a repair call.  When it was determined that the unit could not be repaired he quoted a new unit.  A new unit was out of my budget so he suggested a rebuilt one at a modest cost.  I went with the rebuilt unit.  James was very professional but also friendly and comfortable to be with.  He took the time to explain why the old unit could not be repaired and the features of a new one.  I would highly recommend him.
