After visiting that manufacturer's web site I selected a door and asked for a quote. On Monday their technicians arrived before 8:00 AM and within 30 minutes had my old door fixed.
Quote on new door was very competitive so I asked them to order and schedule an install date. They were able to schedule at my convenience, arrived on time, and did an excellent job in installing my new door.
Love my new garage door and couldn't be happier with my experience with Cropps Door Service.
On 11/21/13, I scheduled service on this garage door for 11/25/13.
Later that same day, 11/21/13, I decided to cancel the service appointment.
I called provider to cancel.
Then I scheduled the installation of a new garage door with another provider for 11/26/13.
(I did not know that Cropps installed new doors; I had been under the impression that they only did repairs.)
Apparently there was a miscommunication within Cropps, as someone came out on 11/22/13 and performed the service.
Then I got a bill in the mail the following week for the service.
I called to dispute the bill, as I had canceled the service.
(Incidentally, had I not canceled, the price would have seemed reasonable.)
Apparently they decided to perform the service earlier than Monday, trying to give me the fastest possible service.
The technician apparently didn't get the word that I had canceled.
He came to my home, and I wasn't there, so he went ahead and did the work.
(Apparently it is not unusual for the homeowner to not be home, and I suppose that is understandable.)
I hadn't known that the work was done, as we were not using the door due to it being non-functional.
Then, the following week, the door was replaced!
So again, I called the provider and disputed the invoice.
Cropps promptly explained what had happened, apologized for the confusion, and credited the invoice.
I was very pleased with how they handled things.
They have a lot of integrity and the mistake only happened because they were in a hurry to provide excellent service.
I would definitely use them in the future.
So what happened a couple months later? The cable broke. So we called Cropps to come out again to fix it, and they did. Or so we thought. Typically they are supposed to put two new cables on at the same time, but the guy said the other one didn't need to be changed. We took his word for it and thought it would be ok. Wrong again. Not only did he just change one cable, he didn't even get the size correct.
So what happened two weeks later? The two mismatched cables pulled the door at different strengths and 3 rollers popped out, leaving the door off the track and crooked.
When all of this was brought to Mary, the owner of Cropps, she refused to take any blame for her workers. Unbelievably, she implied we were trying to sabotage our own garage door! She said in all her years she's never heard of so many problems happening with a garage door in such a short space of time. Well Mary, maybe if your guy had done his job on the first service call, everything would have been fine. Instead, you tried to get 3 separate service calls out of us for $85 a pop. That is no way to run a business and I would NOT recommend this place at all. Instead go with Ed's Garage Door service, who we highly recommend.
"Sorry for the delayed response as I am new to angies list. I apologize for the the problems you had with your repair. This is not how things usually run at our company. We are family owned, now in second generation of ownership and take great pride in our service. Your situation is rare but sometimes techs have overlooked something but in most cases a second service call is not charged. I apologize for this. I was not aware of this situation. Also Mary does not own Cropps. She is usually very pleasant. Sometimes she does stand up for our guys as they work very hard for us and do a good job. Once again I am sorry for your troubles."
Went out there way to get the job done.
Oiled all components.
Adjusted the electric eye for the door.
Great job.
If there are anymore problems w/her garage door I know who we will be calling and also for our own garage. And I want to also add the person I talked to set up the appt. was kind and helpful. :)
Thanks Again Cropp's Door!
