Overall, the experience has been good. The plumber arrived late (they  quoted 20 minutes but arrived closer to 40),  but he was pleasant and professional. He cut a hole in our ceiling, and confirmed that the shower drain is leaking from above and he informed those tenants about this.

Immediately after the installation, I asked the plumber why the Sump-Pro box (which is plugged into an electrical outlet) was not elevated from the concrete because any flooding would cause the unit to destruct due to side vents. He said the floor would never get wet! But the DVD that comes with the unit states clearly that the box MUST be elevated. Within two weeks, the main pump failed because the level switch was stuck in the up position. I went to lift the circular metal plate that covers the hole and look, but could not because one of the discharge pipes had a bend close to the cover, so I had to CUT THE PIPE to gain access. After I gained access, I saw that the backup pump (which must be raised above the main pump so it turns on when the level is too high) was sitting on a flimsy piece of cut bucket. Rather than call the company, I completely re-plumbed the entire system, including the use of bricks as a base for the back-up pump. Also, I elevated the main control box 4 inches from the floor by using concrete landscape pavers. I am not a plumber, but I do have a degree in chemical engineering (we are called "plumbers" by other engineers because our chemical-plant designs use pipes), and I recognize a terrible installation when I see one. This one was terrible!
