mortgage broker
 + -1 moreI cannot imagine any other mortgage broker who would devote so much time to a client. Absolutely tireless and constantly available, Charlie provided me with all the information I needed, sometimes within minutes. Charlie is a tremendous advocate and I felt very secure with him at my side, guiding me through the mortgage process. He was extremely patient with me as I labored over my budget and had quite an impressive bag of tricks when it came to financing (although I was too conservative for some of his ideas). When I say that I paid $1 for the work, that is obviously not correct. He did get a fee of several thousand dollars; I can't remember exactly how much as it was rolled in with my closing costs. I guess if you hunt for your own mortgage you do not pay this fee but there is NO QUESTION that his services were worth every penny. On top of everything he is a super nice guy and an extremely decent, trustworthy human being. I recommend him without reservation.
Description of Work: Charlie served as my mortgage broker for the purchase of a two-flat. He is part of a group of mortgage brokers called Rapid Financial, but each broker has the freedom to work independently, rather than when they work for a big brokerage firm and have strict rules about rates, packages, etc. He spent countless hours counseling me initially about my finances and what kind of property I could afford to buy. Once I started looking at properties, he drew up at the very least a dozen good faith estimates for me so I could determine the financial implications of each one. Buying a two-flat is sort of complicated because the ratio of rent to mortgage is different in each case; Charlie stayed right at my elbow, explaining the variables and how they shifted. It was always very important to him that I understood exactly what I was getting into and what were my full array of options. I never would have pulled this off without him.
