North Shore Chimney is a family owned and operated full service chimney restoration and maintenance company. NSC services all six chicagoland counties six days a week year round. If you are in need of an emergency service please call 847-613-0344 and the senior tech on duty will be able to assist you. Ask about our Angie's List discount. NSC staffs full time CSIA (Chimney Safety Institute of America) certified technicians, NSC is accredited with the BBB (Better Business Bureau), we are members of the NCSG (National Chimney Sweep Guild), and we carry 2 million in liability insurance. "THE ORIGINAL QUOTE INCLUDED REMOVING THE CUSTOM CAPS AND LEAVING THEM ON THE ROOF. THE CUSTOM CAPS WERE APPROX. 12 FT. BY 3 FT. MADE OUT OF SOLID STEEL AND WEIGHED SEVERAL HUNDRED POUNDS. THE ROOF WAS A FLAT TAR ROOF AND THE IDEA OF LEAVING THEM ON THE ROOF DID NOT APPEAL TO THE ASSOCIATION MANAGER. WE PROVIDED HIM WITH A QUOTE TO LOWER THEM TO THE GROUND AND DISPOSE OF THEM FOR $1200 NOT $2000, WHICH HE AGREED TO. AT NO TIME WAS ADDITIONAL WORK PERFORMED WITHOUT FIRST GETTING APPROVAL FOR THE ADDITIONAL COST. AFTER COMPLETING THE WORK THE TECHNICIANS ASKED FOR PAYMENT ON THE BALANCE DUE AND ONE OF THE ASSOCIATION MEMBERS BECAME UPSET ABOUT THE ADDITIONAL CHARGES. THE TECHNICIAN EXPLAINED THAT ALL THE ADDITIONAL WORK WAS APPROVED BY THE ASSOCIATION MANAGER, AT NO TIME DID ANY OF THE TECHNICIANS BECOME HOSTILE. NONE OF THE FIREPLACE FLUES WERE RE-SIZED THEY WERE OFFSET SO THAT NONE OF THE FLUES TERMINATED AT THE SAME LEVEL LIKE THEY DID PREVIOUSLY. ON THE INVOICE IT CLEARLY NOTED THAT "IF THE SMOKING ENTRY/BACKUP PERSISTS IT IS PRESSURE RELATED AND MUST BE DEALT WITH ON AN INDIVIDUAL BASIS WITH INTERIOR ACCESS". NORTH SHORE CHIMNEY HAS DIGITAL PHOTOS OF ALL THE WORK IT PERFORMED INCLUDING THE OFFSETING OF STACKS, THE REMOVAL/DISPOSAL OF THE CUSTOM CAPS, ETC. NORTH SHORE CHIMNEY DISPUTES ANY CHIMNEY COMPANIES FINDINGS THAT THE STACKS WERE RE-SIZED. ALL THE STACKS WERE OFFSET WITH UL LISTED PRODUCTS AND INSTALLED BY CSIA CERTIFIED INSTALLERS. THE PHONE CALLS WERE RETURNED AND THE MEMBER WAS ADVISED OF WHAT COULD BE CAUSING THE PERSISTENT ISSUES AND NORTH SHORE CHIMNEY WOULD NEED TO DEAL WITH THE ISSUES ON AN INDIVIDUAL FIREPLACE BASIS WITH ACCESS TO EACH UNIT THAT WAS EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS. THE MEMBER SAID HE WOULD CALL BACK WITH A CONVENIENT TIME FOR SCHEDULING. THE MEMBER NEVER CALLED BACK. NORTH SHORE CHIMNEY STANDS BEHIND ITS WORK AND IS STILL WILLING TO INSPECT THE SMOKE ENTRY/BACKUP ISSUE FOR NO CHARGE."
