Matthies Landscape

We had arranged for landscape services to be provided by Matthies' Landscape services beginning in 2014 season.  The previous homeowner had recommended Matthies' but warned us that they were considerable higher priced than other service providers.  Despite a significantly higher price quote, we elected to use Matthies' as we assumed they would provide a much greater level of service than their competition.  Unfortunately, we were wrong.  The service was sub-par and the prices were much higher than their competition.  The quality of work provided for lawn care services is not particularly stellar, but the prices were out of this world!  After mutual agreement on a 2015 lawn care program, we established Matthies' as our provider of choice, again thinking that their familiarity with our property would be beneficial.  They performed a spring clean up and cut the grass for 50% more than the cost of our neighbors virtually identical lawn and then just stopped showing up.  They virtually disappeared and we were left to seek alternate service provider mid-season.
I must credit them for some of the heavier duty landscaping that they did on our property prior to our ownership which involved building walls and creating flower beds.  However, they "stink" at providing more mundane services like lawn care and light duty landscaping tasks.  It seems they want to make a fortune from a small job.  When the jobs aren't large enough their support is nil.  We merely wanted decent lawn care and seasonal maintenance from a reliable vendor.  Matthies' did not fit the bill.  In summary, they are very high priced and unreliable for "regular" lawn care and "maintenance landscaping."

I have used Matthies Landscape for over 9 years and they have been absolutely wonderful!  They are friendly, prompt, fantastic at every job I've ever had them perform, and you can tell they care greatly and are very conscientious about everything they do. Anne, the owner, is one of the friendliest people I have ever met.  I had an issue with the yard flooding on Christmas Eve (due to a clog in our storm water pipe) and she stopped baking! to come over and try to help me out.  Her guys ended up digging a temporary trench for me that day and then returned the day after Christmas to dig up the remaining pipes to find the clog and fix it.

They were here just yesterday performing my Spring Cleanup and they did a WONDERFUL job!  Everything looked so beautiful after they left that it motivated me to start decorating the exterior with all of my cute ironwork.  They will also be out here in the next couple of months to install flagstone to my front porch, and to travel about an hour away to install stone that will surround my Mother's head stone.  They mow my lawn every week and they'll be back in the fall to do a "fall cleanup" as well. 

I can't imagine using anyone other than Matthies Landscape - they are the best!

Sketched out a plan, recommended timing, provided competitive quote.
Did work on time with quality results.  Explained care of new sod.
Stopped by the next day to make sure everything was satisfactory and answered any questions.

Anne and Mike did an excellent job. They were absolutely professional had a highly skillled team. They came when they said they would, they were clean and communicated well every step of the way. A job well done, it looks fabulous! I would highly recommend Matthies Landscape!

They were great to work with. We originally wanted brick, but decided it was cost prohibitive. We had our own brick already purchased and they were willing to work with us, ultimately using it to line the drive and walkway. They cheerfully prepared 3 total quotes for us trying to stay within a more economical budget. We added items, took away, and worked together on a final plan. I was happy with their execution. Of course things always come up, (weather, vendor issues) but Anne at Matthies was always responsive with an email or phone call to keep me informed of progress whether on a quote or on final project. They admitted in the beginning that their pricing wouldn't be the absolute cheapest, but it would be fair and quality would be great. I'm so glad I didn't just go for price.

This company is extremely professional! They are clean, timely, and they do wonderful work. Anne Matthies and Mike both did an extremely nice job ensuring that my retaining wall was completed according to plan and they were very attentive to my needs and questions. I would definitely use Matthies Landscape in the future and would recommend them to anyone.
