Would highly recommend Jim Wagner Plumbing, but especially Ryan!!
This was such a bad experience. The plumber started to tell me what he may need to do to do the job. He might have to cut a hole in my closet and another in the dining room. They don't do drywall repair, but that is not big deal to fix - to him apparently. The cost would be about $700.00. Really? To just replace the fixtures? He thought I was getting upset (ya think?). So he came up with an idea to save me money - how about he just replaces the fixtures. The cost for that would be about $227.00. Uh, isn't that what I asked for? I did not purchase the overflow cover or pop up drain cover. So I went to the hardware store to purchase them. I guess he does not have those parts on his truck. When I returned he said that the trim piece was missing from the box and that I need to go back to the hardware store to buy one. Why didn't he call my cell phone while I was at the store? When I returned a second time, he said that the fixture was not going to fit, that 2 screws were missing and that he still needed to cut a hole in my closet to replace the valve. He called the boss and apparently he spent enough time on my project (3 hours now). I asked if the replacement could be finished later the same day. I guess the boss needed him to go somewhere else. The plumber put back the old trim piece. I was told to call them when I purchased a new fixture with all the parts and that they would come back to finish the job. Later when I was picking up the box, I found the trim plate under the box. I also found 2 screws. ALL THE PARTS WERE THERE!. He took the trim piece out of the box and out of the plastic, then he "lost" them. Now my tub is barely functional because he did not caulk the overflow valve, there is a gap of about 1/4 inch from the tub to the spout, and the handle and trim are also not caulked. There is also a terrible brown mark on the fiberglass tub near the spout. I don't know what he did, but I can't get the mark off. I really don't want a permanent reminder of this incident. I will not be calling them back to complete the work. I will be calling someone who is competent.
"(member name removed), I am sorry to hear about your experience! We do employ plumbers and sometimes they have a difficult time explaining the process to the home owner so they understand. I had tried to contact you with no response so here we are. The tub faucet is located in the wall. To replace the "fixture" you have to open either the tile from the tub side or the wall behind to access the faucet. The cosmetic pieces the handle and trim cover just screw to the faucet that is located inside the wall. When we are there to install the "fixture"or faucet a wall opening has to be performed un less your new fixture or faucet is exactly the same as your existing faucet and then you can remove and replace the handle and trim cover. The plumber not being able to identify if your new "fixture" or faucet was the same as your existing though similar were not. That's why he said he may be able to adapt the new to the old for less labor. Your fixture or faucet that you purchased didn't have the trim cover or the screws in the box. The trim cover you provided us that you went to the hardware store to get while we were there as stated in your review was a universal piece which will not fit. So after determining that your new fixture trim cover and handle will not adapt to your existing faucet we now determined if you wanted them replaced with what you had we would have to open the wall and change the faucet. You agreed, however we were still missing the trim cover from the original faucet box but had a universal that you provided but didn't fit. You also found out that the store you bought the faucet from couldn't provided you with the correct replacement faucet on account of you purchasing the last one hence the universal trim plate they gave you. So you wanted the plumber to wait at your home while you go and purchase a faucet. You also wanted the faucet replacement charge for the $700.00 which we had already 3 hours invested with waiting for you to go to the hardware store for the trim cover. My plumber contacted his manager and explained and we felt that the task "labor charge' wasn't enough for him to wait while you went back to the store so we instructed him to reinstall your old cover and handle so you had a functional bath tub, and for you to call when you determined if you could get all the pieces or a different style faucet for us to install. My manager also instructed him to begin the faucet replacement task cause he did have the faucet valve body, but like the plumber said he wasn't sure if you could get the trim cover or not and didn't want to start the install in case you returned with a different style faucet. I know this is all frustrating, and I will work with my plumber to help better explain that the faucet is in the wall. If the faucet box that you purchased had all the pieces in it we would probably be thanking you for a great review. Though you would have to have someone fix the drywall that needs to be opened to access the faucet. Thank you Greg"
Everything went very well and as expected. Will use his service in future for sure (bit pricey though)
