James came out to look at our pool for winterizing as well as installing a new winter mesh cover. Knowledgeable and hard-working group at J&C Pools. Winterized my pool and installed the new cover as discussed with no surprises on pricing and quality of work was great.

Terrible contractor--DO NOT HIRE Pool walls were painted poorly, must have used a roller with sand particles because it's so rough. Pool floor is concrete and was painted. James was to make sure all the previous floor repairs were in good shape and sound. He said everything was fine so he painted. We have well water so we hauled in water -cost of $1400. After the pool was filled , the pool lost water. Told James and he said let it leak until it drops below the skimmer. We did and it continued to leak almost 2.5 feet. I called and practically begged him to handle this. It took him 2.5 weeks to come out. He found the lights leaking and repaired the leak with epoxy. Still a leak. Meanwhile a large hole developed over a previously repaired area that he just painted. He did a repair with epoxy and said he would do a permanent repair in the fall after closing the pool. Two days later he repaired the leaking lights a second time. I hauled in another load of water at a cost of $250. Still I was losing 1/2 inch of water a day and called again, emailed multiple times. Still no response. I then called American Leak Detectors and another pool company to look for the leak. Long story short-- it took multiple visits by a leak detector to find 3 more cracks that had opened up because they pressure washed too hard and broke open the floor repairs, only to paint over them so it was hard to find the leaks. I called James again and asked to meet so we could resolve the problem. 3 pool contractors told me to get him to fix this issue , that it was his responsibility. I called and emailed again and again with no response, even asked that he close the pool. No response!!! Seems he's disappeared. I now have to find someone to fix all the cracks, drain and repaint the pool and haul in water again. Using JC Pools was a costly error. Don't make the same mistake I did. I found good reviews here so that's how I found this contractor HMMM?????? makes you wonder where those reviews came from.

Used them to close the pool. However, when I opened the pool in Spring'16 realized that they had not cleared the pool of leaves nor cleaned it before pulling on the cover. The equipment was not cleaned either. As a result, found a ton of leaves in the Spring. All they did was pull the tarp over and tie it up. Further, the air pillow was put at one end of the pool rather than in the middle which defeats the purpose of having a pillow . $170 to just pull on a cover and tie it is ridiculous.
Response from J & C QUALITY POOLS
"you paid for a basic pool closing which includes dropping the water level adding the closing chemicals putting the pillow in the pool ( we don't tie them in the middle anymore) installing the winter cover and discounting the filter pump and heater if you have one cleaning and vacuuming of the pool is not included in a basic pool closing i am sorry that you feel you did not do a better job of the pool closing if there is a problem we wish you would have called and we could have worked something out with you James"

Terrible Experience!! Do Not Hire this company. JC Pools was hired after finding good reviews on Angie's List. End of March--The concrete deck was cut to repair the skimmer lines. When the concrete was replaced, it was such a poor job that I had him remove it. The pool walls were painted and it seemed like there was sand or something in the paint because it was so rough. The pool bottom had original repairs and James was to check to see that all the repairs were in good shape and sound before painting. He told me he checked and they were in good shape. The pool floor was painted. We have well water so we needed to truck in water to fill the pool ($1400) Right after the fill, the pool was losing water. I called James and he said to let it leak until it was below the skimmers. I hesitated because I wouldn't be able to vacuum but I did and the pool kept losing water. I called, left messages almost begging him to come out. He didn't come for 2.5 weeks, meanwhile the pool was down almost 3 feet and a hole developed on the floor where a previous repair was done and painted. He then found a leak in the lights and repaired them, also did a temporary repair on the hole saying he would permanently fix it and repaint after he closed the pool in the fall. The Next day I called to say the pool was still leaking, not as much but still leaking. He came 2 days later and repaired again. I assumed we were good to go so I trucked in another load of water for $250. Still the pool leaked. Repeatedly e-mailed and called and no answer from James. I then called American Leak Detectors and another pool company to find the leak. Three other holes developed on the floor of the pool due to the fact that JC Pools powerwashed to the point of weakening the prior repaired cracks and then painting over them. It took the leak detectors 3 different visits to find the leak because painting hid the holes. I consulted with 3 other pool companies that told me it was the contractors responsibility to fix this because the entire pool would need to be drained, the cracks fixed and repainted. Of course I would then need to truck in water all over again. Totally depressing because of the cost that would again need to be invested to fix this pool. JC Pools was of course paid already. I once again left a message to ask James to come out and discuss what he would do and ask him to close the pool. Have never heard from him and it's now August. The entire 2016 swimming season has been a disaster. I have never had this bad of an experience with any contractor and don't want anyone else to have to go through what I've experienced. I don't know where those positive reviews came from HMMM???? Don't take the chance with this company. They are totally unresponsive!!!! Not to mention shoddy work. This isn't the end-- I need to file with the BBB and Attorney General office.

We've had J & C Quality Pools come out periodically for pool vacuuming for the last 2 summers now.  They are great!  We had had trouble before finding a good pool service.  Very friendly, professional, and their pricing is quite reasonable.  I would definitely recommend them!

Last February I moved into to an old house that included a very poorly maintained 60?s era pool ? all the mechanicals were missing or broken, the lines were suspect and the pool itself was full of leaves.  Once spring came and I got a good look at the pool?s surface, I realized I definitely needed professional help.  After meeting with and getting estimates from two other pool companies, I fortunately came across J & C Quality Pools.  Unlike other pool companies, they didn?t try to sell me anything I didn?t need, and they were very familiar with the type of in-ground pool I have (Fiberglass sides / concrete bottom).  Additionally, they were very willing to let me perform some of the grunt work in order to cut back on costs (Like concrete removal and trenching)  Once finished they gave me an in-depth lesson on pool maintenance and care (Which I very much needed being a first time pool owner)

Due to my own foolish error, I lost prime on the pool pump. Normally it is not my job to care for the pool but this week it was.  I neglected to close the valves when I cleaned the pump basket of debris.  I tried unsucessfully to restore the pump.  I called J&C Quality pools and received a call back from a very friendly lady to tried to walk me through the process to prime the pump over the phone. Later I found out, she was the owner's wife.  The next morning James arrived and quickly guided me through the process and tactfully showed me where my error was.  He helped me install the Creepy Crawler and pointed out several items in the pool and pump area which needed attention. He was professional and helpful and I will keep his business card handy for future reference.  Thanks, James and your wife too.  And his service charge was extremely reasonable also.

I had requested their service for installing a pool pump ordered from Amazon.  Unfortunately the pump I ordered did not work for my pool.  J&C let me know why it wouldn't work, and showed me what is important to look for in the new pump.  They then ordered a new pump for me, and came back to install it.  The total cost was less than I was expecting, and the installation was very very quick.  In addition, they gave me advice for being able to clean up my now green pool in only 24 hours (something I wish I knew before!!!).  I will definitely be using them in the future.

They found the problem was mice that shorted out the system.  I was disappointed that the replacement took so long to get.  I agreed to a "generic" replacement to the controller, to keep the cost down.  It still wasn't a cheap repair!  The module was eventually replaced, but I didn't get a chance to look at the repair for several days.  When I went to inspect the repair, I found the decking around the hot tub to be out of place.  Somehow, the repair also dislodged a pipe, which caused a pretty substantial leak.  Finally, the worst problem was the controller was a very bad fit, with large gaps on either side.

I called and the receptionist was very pleasant and responsive.  She scheduled the follow up visit.  It has now been taken care of.  However, the gap by the controller was simply filled with silicone caulk (I asked for this not to happen) and looks terrible.

I appreciate the responsiveness of the receptionist and the friendliness of the service tech, but the overall work was sloppy and the professionalism poor.
