American Electric received a work order from our home warranty company to check on possible arcing or the cause of flickering lights. Jim called us immediately, and arrived early for our appointment. He said a breaker was bad and replaced it, but said it would probably break again and that we would need to replace the whole breaker box ($1000) which would probably not be covered by the home warranty. He also checked a few outlets in the area where the lights were flickering. The lights worked for a couple hours, and then started flickering again. We called the home warranty company the next day and were told we needed to repair it on our own. I called another electrician to get a price quote, and left a message for Jim with American Electric. Never heard back from Jim. However, the other electrician that came out to repair the lights said the replacement breaker was improperly installed causing the light flickering. He also said the breaker box was fine - showed no signs of arcing or wear that would justify replacing the whole box. Instead, he spent 4 hours following the wires, testing outlets and light fixtures to determine the problem (loose circuit). Overall, we were very disappointed with American Electric. They didn't take the time necessary to determine what the problem was, and suggested unnecessary repairs.

I called on Saturday and left a voicemail describing the work I needed to have done. Jim called me back on Sunday and agreed to come out the next day. He showed up fifteen minutes early and proceeded to fix the items on my list. He was very professional and did not waste any time getting things fixed. He had to go to Home Depot for parts for two of the switches and even bought lights for the chandelier as I had none. He quoted me an estimate over the phone of $100, but since I ended up having him do additional work, I was happy to pay the price he requested which I thought was very reasonable. He sent me an invoice by email afterwards, because he did not have any invoices with him at the time. Overall, it was a pleasant experience and I would not hesitate to call him again or recommend him to a friend.

It went very well. Jim proved to be a conscientious and dedicated electrician working at a very acceptable price.
