Crew can out on time. Worked thru lunch to finish on time. Removed old heater and cleaned up work area after testing and providing detail instructions on the operation. Soldering of was very clean and neat ball values connected configuration allows us to operate each unit independently if needed. Could not be happier with Royal Plumbing. Great value and communications.

He was great. He listened to what was happening and tried to re-create the issue. When it wouldn't leak again instead of just leaving he continued to troubleshoot. He finally determined it only leaked after it was plugged and released. The only way he could get to it was to go through the ceiling below. I was amazed he only had to cut a 10 inch by 9 inch hole to be able to reach up to the drain. The problem was the plumbing putty had dried up and come loose. He had to loosen the pipe to put new putty in. Of course that was easier said than done because the pipe had been glued close. It took some work but problem is solved.

Called Royal as they installed a Sears water heater last yer and that installation went very well. They said they would be out between 9:00 - 11:00 am on 10/20/2014. They arrived at 10:00 am. It took them only 20 minutes to replace the sump pump and the price was as quoted. They wrapped the old sump pump in towels they had brought with them and they even turned off the lights in the basement that I had turned on for them when they were finished.
Excellent job, on time, for the price quoted, and no clean up required after they left.
We will definitely use them again and recommend them to others.

The job was handled in a very timely manner even though when the sewer line was installed the original installers, not Royal Plumbing, did not use standard material requiring the installers to leave to get materials to fit.
The job required some digging in the yard around the access. When the job was complete the ground was returned to it's original level.
Overall I was very pleased with the work, the workmanship and professionalism in completing the work.

Two installers from Royal Plumbing arrived on time.  Took them 90 minutes to complete the entire job.  New water heater was making hot water.  Very nice guys.
Later that day I noticed my furnace was not working.  Checked and found the pilot light was out.  After re-lighting the pilot light, the furnace blower started.  I did a match flame test and found the hot gases were excaping into the house instead of venting via the chimney.  I repeated the test on the water heater flu and found the same happening. Since the furnace and water heater share the same flu vent leading out to the chimney, I called the Royal Plumbing emergency number.  I was told this had nothing to do with the water heater and that a bird no doubt had a nest in the chimney.  They would not dispatch a tech.  I was left to troubleshoot on my own.  Either that or a very cold night.
The flu vent was cold to the touch. Cold air was blowing down the chimney instead of up.  I started the furnace again and left it run a short while.  Eventually the flu pipe warmed up enough so that the hot air caused the hot gases to flow up and out chimney.  Another match test confirmed all was flowing correctly at both the water heater and furnace.
I believe the installers should have checked for proper flu venting as well as for the hot water before they left.  The emergency on-call person rated an "F".
Response from ROYAL PLUMBING INC
"First, thank you for taking the time to evaluate the service we provided for you. We appreciate the feedback. We apologize if you felt the emergency dispatcher did not exceed your expectations. However, we felt that he did his best to troubleshoot your issue and brainstorm any potential remedies for the problem, as the hot water heater was installed correctly. As you diagnosed, your problem was with your furnace, not your hot water heater installation. We would have been more than happy to dispatch a plumber to your home in the event that there was an error with the installation, as we would not want you to be without hot water. We do apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused as we do strive to provide our customers with the best customer service. We hope you continue to consider us for all your plumbing needs in the future."

When the package of parts was opened, a key part was missing.  The plumber and apprentice went to another job while I went to Home Depot to replace the faucet kit.  They came back and completed the job without a problem.

Each of the three times I called Royal Plumbing,  the plumbers came quickly, worked efficiently and cleaned up nicely. The lead plumber (sorry, I don't remember his name) is funny and friendly and was happy to explain what he was doing.
Finding honest and competent tradesmen isn't always easy. I'm very happy to have found a great plumbing company.

Guy with heavy accent comes out to fix the disposal. He spends 3 to 5 minutes fixing the disposal and 25 minutes lecturing me on what not to put in a garbage disposal. I think he told me no vegetables in the garbage disposal b/c they clog it up??? What the heck are you suppose to put in a garbage disposal??? Any way he then pulls out a business card for his own personal plumbing business and tells me that my pipes are not right and that I will need to have them replaced. From what I could gather he was starting his own business and was offering his services.

Val arrived and argued with me that that line was clogged up because he thought the wax donut had to be the problem. Since we were already in the hole for a $98 service charge, we figured another $62 to remove the toilet and clear out the line was worth it. Once the toilet was removed he agreed the line was clogged up but he did not have a rodder in the van with him. Who does not bring this kind of equipment with them when I have already called them to say I have a backed up line? He went back to the shop to get their small rodder. He was unable to clean the line. He said the larger rodder was a 2 person job and would cost another $200. Plus he could not return that day with another guy. He also did not know if the larger rodder would work or if the septic system must be backed up. We told him we were done with their service. The next day I had another plumbing company at the house and he brought a large rodder with him. This fixed the problem. We will never use Royal again.

I bought a new countertop and the countertop contractor neglected to contact Royal until the day before installation. Royal was able to squeeze me in and get everything hooked up. They were professional and courteous, cleaned up after themselves, overall a great job. Alex and Greg explained to me exactly what they had to do in order to get the larger sink in place with plumbing the way it was in the floor. I would certainly recommend them to anyone.

Royal Plumbing returns calls quickly. They come within the time frame they give you, and are reasonable in those time frames. The service people are knowledgeable and courteous in your home. They identified our problems quickly and made effective repairs at a reasonable price. I have made them our first call for plumbing.
