I realize that this job was done 14 years ago but it's just within the last 4 years that I'm being told by other contractors that the job done was piece work, unprofessional  and hazardous. I don't like to go up into the attic since its very hard to get up in there and maneuver around and because I am also female. Lansing heating and air replaced my 2.5 ton air handler with a 4 ton air handler (which now I am told was too large for my sq.ft and they didn't increase the size of the only air return I have to accommodate the size of the new air handler.) and replaced my condenser with a what was supposed to be a more efficient model turned out to be one that rated very low on the energy efficient scale. My quote was to replace existing supply line material with new and add three new supplies, instead they took two of my cold air returns made them supplies and only added one new supply. The man who quoted the job felt that was what I needed to do but the one doing the work said how he did it was fine I didn't really need those two air returns. After my ceiling started leaking from condensation due to a plugged drain in 2008 we were told by a contractor that the secondary drain was never installed and this could have helped prevent the damage. When I had another contractor in 2012 come to install extra insulation in my attic and a secondary pan and drain they had to remove all the debris that was left in the attic from Lansing Heating and Air before they could adequately do their job. I have enclosed the pictures. I also emailed them to Lansing Heating in 2012. They never responded.

They seem to know what they're doing and they are on time, friendly and they don't spend a whole lot of time here.

They put in a new ac unit, which worked well for about 3 years. Last year that new unit wasn't cooling the house so they came out, cleaned the unit and injected more refrigerant into the system. They charged us for the visit, even though the new system was supposed to have a 5-year warranty on it. They said that the new ac wasn't cooling the house because we hadn't maintained the system, by which they meant that we hadn't called them out for yearly cleaning. Again the next year the new ac system wasn't cooling the house. Thus, my husband called Lansing and told them we were having problems with our ac, which was still under warranty. The secretary said she had no record that we bought our system from them. My husband told her that their sticker was on the unit. She said it didn't matter, that we needed to provide the receipt for the unit, which we did. Thus, we called Lansing out again to fix it. This time the guy said the system was leaking and put more refrigerant in it and put in a leak stop liquid, which he said would heal any leaks in our system. He told us that this ac unit does not use freon, it uses puron, therefore it will leak every year guaranteed. He did not charge for this visit, trying to tell us that he was doing us a favor for not charging because we voided our warranty by not calling him out every year to maintain the system. After he left we made some phone calls and found out that the company's owner and technician was lying to us. Carrier, the manufacturer, said the warranty wasn't void because we didn't have someone come out to clean it every year. They also said that the system wasn't supposed to leak every year. Other repair people said that he should have done a dye test to find out where the leak is and change the leaking part. In the end, we decided to stop trying to deal with Lansing's lies and laziness and get the issue fixed with another company, which is an ongoing and expensive battle.

They gave me a good price and they were prompt. I thought they were courteous and very nice to me. They are a family owned business. They were very accommodating. I was so impressed with the work they did. They made every effort they could to be in and out of my house as quickly as possible. I hold people to high standards for customer service and they went above and beyond.

Went with some one else. Did not want to deal with Illinois sales tax (I live in another state), I have to pay for permits.
