MARKHAM HOME IMPROVEMENTS

Mr. Mark Markham was referred to us by our real estate agent. We were to hire him to install hardwood floors on our entire first floor of a home we bought at the end of March 2014. Mr. Markham was to charge us fifth teen thousand dollars to install our floors. He requested multiple checks all under ten thousand dollars. We gave Mr. Markham 4 checks that added up to be a total of twenty five thousand dollars Fifth teen thousand dollars. Of that was for the floors and the additional ten thousand dollars. Was a deposit for the basement. He sent us a contract to sign for the flooring. The contract said he was going to install narrower wood planks than the ones we requested therefore we did not sign the contract. He said it was simply a typo and he would submit a new contract for us to sign.

Mr. Mark Markham cashed TWENTY THOUSAND DOLLARS. Of the money and never did any of the work. He also skipped town with our money. He currently has a home for sale in Long Grove Illinois but has moved to Phoenix to continue to do the same type of work he was to do for us.

My husband is disabled due to an accident at work and I have brain and bone cancer. Mr. Markham was aware of this at the time he stole our money. Due to the laws in Illinois that protect disabled people from being victims of people like Mr. Markham, we were able to press criminal charges against him in our town of Lindenhurst Illinois.

We have requested over and over in emails and in early phone conversations before he stopped responding to any of our calls, that our money be returned. The police contacted him as well. It has been over a month and a half that this man stole our money. The stress of the situation has affected our health not to mention the emotional and financial hardship he has caused my husband and I.

Please serve this as a warning that Mr. Mark Markham is currently living in Phoenix Arizona and is working in the same field as a contractor. If you have the same experiences as we have had, please contact the Lindenhurst Police Department so that he can't do this to anyone else.
