Succinctly stated HoffArt, Lake Zurich, IL (HALZ) is unreliable, unskilled, and worst of all untrustworthy. Their most proficient skill is demolition e.g., our once beautiful staircase. We have spent thousands of dollars to undo the mess HALZ left in their feckless "home improvement “effort at our house. Crown moldings hung upside with ample nailing, corner miters with 1/8” gaps, sloppy cut/hung/mismatching window or doorframes, paint jobs w/o the use of drop cloths or lighting, over texturizing paint and mismatching drywall-ceiling sections are just some of HALZ’s other unique abilities. Their work ethic is also in a league of its own. You’ll stand in awe of a staggering 4hrs "work" in 20 consecutive days. Not bashful about asking hefty initial and sequential payments the unfortunate trusting homeowner is soon overly committed and drawn into a pit hoping things will get better as an endless stream of excuses are offered or vague answers are implied. However, eventually the homeowner comes to the conclusion nothing offered by HALZ is believable and is simply being gamed and fire them as we did. If the reader is skeptical of this review before signing with HALZ (like we should have done) 1. Ask for a business card 2. Company letterhead stationary with full address and phone number 3. Look for a company truck with identifying logo 4. Picture or at least list of employees with their trade skill experience and 5. Several references from recently completed jobs you can check for yourself (not reps word or pictures). Your efforts will be a real eye opener. We could go on but am sure the reader gets the picture avoid, HoffArt (Lake Zurich. IL) like the plague and save yourself money, time and anguish.
