I just had to install a new furnace. Dan and Jim did an excellent job!
've been using Climate Makers since the 1990's. Dan Papreck (Owner) has been servicing my heating and air conditioning for all the homes that I've owned. I wouldn't even consider using another company since Dan has excellent knowldege of the business and does superior work in whatever needs to be done and is priced fairly.
Being a realtor, I have referred Dan to many clients who just rave about the work he does. I just can't say enough about his company and his employees. Climate Makers is the best!

I cannot say enough good things about the work that was done and the experience that I had with Dan Papreck, the owner of Climate Makers.
Work:
Dan does not come over just to sell you a box, like most HVAC salesmen.  He comes to sell climate.  Before he recommended anything to me he took measurements of the entire house and inspected the entire system that I currently had, including vents, air returns, sizes of the furnace and air conditioner, and the relationship of the furnace to the a/c.  Then he came back to me with recommendations.  He told me that my furnace and a/c were oversized for my home, and that I could get more airflow to my stuffy second floor by adding a return and sealing leaks in the basement ductwork.  I only replaced the a/c at this time and added the new return, and Dan made some adjustments to my furnace.  Sure enough the unit works fine and the airflow to the seond floor has improved.  And on top of that he quieted the furnace so much that I do not know that it is there.
Experience:
-Dan was a gentleman, followed through on all his promises, kept his appointments, promptly furnished info needed for the condo association approval , and responded promptly to emails( no matter what time of day)
-Dan presented alternative units and explained each alternative
-Dan obtained the city construction permit and filed the warranty papers for my a/c unit
-Dan and his assistant wore plastic protectors over their shoes so that they would not track up the house with dust
-Dan and his assistant cleaned up all work areas after they were done

Excellent service

Very good.  They gave me a Saturday appointment.  Dan came in and addressed the problem.

I had the furnace project quoted by multiple bidders.  Climate Makers came in the lowest, primarily because they were the only ones that went through my house, measured it, counted the ducts et cetera and determined that my old furnace was oversized.  They were also the only ones that pointed at a bad plumbing job on my water heater which was causing a small leak in flu gas.  I asked if it was dangerous and he said, not really, but nevertheless he would have to fix it simply because it was poorly done and if he didn't fix it knowing that fact then the could become liable in the event that the leak got worse/dangerous.
He also claimed that he had an improved design for his furnace installations.  He elevates them allowing for added airflow at the bottom.  This design requires two filters instead of one, but improves the efficiency of the furnace as a whole.  It works well enough, but I will point out that it is very difficult to change the furnace filter on the primary air inlet because it catches on a screw head that sticks out into the slot.  This is annoying but manageable.  I haven't tried a cleanable air filter but I fear that one wouldn't fit in there given the screw problem.
I can't tell if they "fixed" my water heater.  I really don't think they did anything with it.  So either he forgot about it, or I just can't see the difference.
They also managed to stain my basement carpet (to the point that a carpet cleaner can't clean it).  If I was more anal I could have probably complained about that, but it's my basement so in my view it might as well be concrete.

I initially called Daniel because my furnace wasn't working. Historically I have used other servicemen and have had many ongoing problems with my furnace. Daniel did an excellent job of determining the problem and educating me on why I have had numerous problems with my furnace. He pointed out shortcuts that others had taken that lead to some of problems I was currently having. His engineering background is a huge differentiator in my mind. I then had him look at some other challenges I have had with my system including musty smell in my basement. He inspected my system and explained that I needed return vents in areas where none existed. He completed all the repair work on a timely basis and added the return vents and my system is working much better than it ever did before. I also felt his rates were very reasonable. I would highly recommend Daniel.

Daniel Papreck did an excellent job in replacing an ageing furnace an air-conditioner. Very knowledgeable in explaining why a smaller system would be more efficient and produce better results. They started and finished their work on time, removed old unit s and left area clean. They even fixed a water leak that turned up in the furnace room where they worked and gave me a new thermostat when the old one acted up. I can't speak more highly for Dan and his crew.

Old AC unit was not cooling--Climate Makers came out same day during busy schedule, identified leak in 25 year old unit, and recharged unit with coolant to keep me cool for a few days in the interim between service call and new unit installation (a few days).  Installation was as scheduled, however, airflow to second floor did not seem adequate the day after installation.  Dan came back the next day and ran through all ductwork, made adjustments to lines, identified and corrected leaks, and cleaned electronic filters.  System running like an charm and we are keeping cool in the 100 degree heat.

My A/C went out last night.  I phoned three companies around 6 am this morning looking for help.  Dan was the first person to call back a half hour later.  I couldn't have been more pleased with his prompt and excellent service.  He was at my home by 8:30 am, as promised, and had my air conditioner working 30 minutes later.  He's a very nice man, reliable and knowledgable.  I will use his services in the future.

They were fine. The overall experience was excellent. I would use Climate Makers, Inc. again.

It was a non stressful experience. Took 3 estimates and Dan, the owner was the only one I had talked to that was not trying to be only selling versus educating. First interview was about an hour and a half of answering my  questions and what I would want done. He showed us how our house could be more efficient, how we could have less dust and less noisy equipment.

We had it scheduled the day before the big storm and did not have power for 5 days and we stayed in touch every day and had no problems rescheduling.

Dan and his technician showed up on time and worked so well that I did not know that they were here. They were so professional. They cleaned my garage cleaner than when they showed up.

The next day my smoke alarm was beeping and the next day he showed up and installed one that I had purchased. Dan showed up with a great attitude, knowing the problem , and fixing it without complaint.

All three estimates were close financially but Dan was head and shoulders above the rest in education and his professional demeanor.

It went well.  I would use them again.

We have been looking for a while to change HVAC companies.  I called and spoke with a very nice and helpful woman at the office.  She asked what I needed done and then explained all of their service options in depth.  We were able to schedule a technican for the next morning.  The technican was on time, friendly, and was very honest about some of the things on the list that we wanted addressed.  One item was the humidifier on one of the units, seeing that it is summer it is currently off, the technican recommended that we wait until the fall service to address any possible issue because at the moment the humidifier is not on and not needed.  He believes the likely problem is a dirty pad or something to that extent in the humidifier which can cause it to not work properly.  He also said that if he were to replace the pad in the humidifier now there is a chance that it coudl get dirty again before we want to use it in the fall/winter and he would have to replace it again.  I think that no price tag can be put on that kind of honesty, he could have easily replaced the part and then said it was bad again in the fall and I do not know enough about HVAC to know the difference.  I truly appreciate a company that is not trying to steal every dime they can from you.  We will definitely be using this compnay again. 

Dan came out to our home for an emergency service call right before Christmas, right after a lengthy service call from another provider who said our existing furnace could not be fixed without another $500.00 of repairs. We did not want to invest that much money in a broken furnace, but we were also looking at a -10 degree day during a Chicago winter. The technician from this other company left, and we called Climate Makers. Dan came out in the evening, in a snow storm, got our furnace up and running better than it has in years. He also fixed the mess the other technician left for us to deal with. We were able to wait a few months (and after the Chicago blizzard) with a completely stable existing furnace, thanks to Dan. We set up the install for March. The crew needed only 1 day to install the new unit, improve and resize some ductwork, then got us up and running before dinner. We have always had less heat reach our master bedroom, and now the temperature is the same as the rest of the house! They are fantastic and were able to work within my budget. I will be recommending them for any HVAC job in the future!

excellent. dan the owner is highly knowledgeable and very responsive. I had some serious problems with uneven heating and cooling, noisy furnace and ac operation, and he solved them all.

They made sure everything was done properly and hauled away all of the removed parts. The AC is working fabulously. Everything that they do (for instance, they come to my home twice a year to make sure everything is working properly) they are always pleasant, on time and professional. I think the price is quite competitive. When something needs to be done I trust them to get it done and do it right. I never have any issues following their services.

I've been using this company for 8 years and they're the best. The prices are very reasonable for the market but their work is far superior to the market.

It went well. Joe explained what he was doing, offerend to talk to another furnace company (the one that installed the new exhaust system) and was prompt and professional.

Dan always returns my calls promptly. He is reliable and shows up when he says he will. He takes the time to explain what he did and what he found. I have a great deal of trust in the way Dan runs his business.
