Designer Flooring

It didn’t go well.

The project had problems from the beginning. After agreeing on a low price to get my business on another project, the contractor attempted increase the price the next time we spoke. He also informed me that the stairs were not included in the price, nor would the laying of floor shoe. I ordered a product and his recommended under flooring. It was way more expensive than I ever imagined. It turned out that he made a mistake in measurement of the basement so I had to order more and the project was put on hold for a few weeks. Throughout the project, the vendor was very rude to deal with and worst of all, he did not finish the project. He only laid the floor but then said he could not do the stairs for another month! I would have never used the contractor if I knew this up front. Lot's of surprises. While he operates on the North Shore, this is no North Shore service provider.

Things started out fine with the contractor. They were the most expensive bid, and I thought I was therefore getting the best provider of services. This was not the case. I have to give them credit that the finished product was pretty good. However, throughout the project this contractor communicated poorly, was rude, did not stick to dates they set, declared several standard services (like redoing the floor shoe) were "extra. The worst part by far is that they did not finish the job. They finished about 3/4 of the job and then said they couldn't come back for a month due to other projects. They also became very difficult to get a hold of and combative during this time when I challenged them. For the North Shore prices, this is not a North Shore provider.

The floors look better than when they were new!  Excellent job - they gave me a good quote that was much more inclusive than any of the other providers I spoke with.  It included moving furniture, sealing off the heating system and many other little things I would not have thought of to ask.
Joe told me that I would never even know they were there when they were finished (we went away while the work was completed) and he was 100% correct - everything was in place, no dust anywhere and the floors look great. 
They were not the lowest quote I got, but they were the most thorough and won my confidence.  I should have done this a few years ago - it was painless.

We used Designer Flooring to help us choose our wood type, remove old hardwood, tile and carpet and install a new floor in about 800 sq ft.  We are very very happy with the craftsmanship with the completed floor.  Joe was quick to respond to phone calls and really understood what I wanted my floor to look like and helped me choose the type and cut of wood to match my ideas. Joe is definitely an expert in wood flooring and that showed as I knew what look I wanted but not sure what cut of oak would match my vision.  Joe immediately knew what I was describing and made the vision a reality.  The company moved all my furniture and appliances and then put my rooms back together again.  They went above and beyond to minimize dust in my house as well as working long hours to complete our job on schedule.   I couldn't be happier and would absolutely use this company again.
