He is very professional, punctual and nice which are all very important to me. I am very happy with all the five pieces esp. the two 19th century pieces that was given to me by my uncle! They are all beautiful! I strongly recommend Rob Kleeman!

We had a terrific experience with Rob Kleeman.  The dining room set is at least 50 years old and the chairs showed a lot of wear including pealing veneers and delamination.  Rob achieved excellent results....the chairs now look great.  He was highly professional
with clear estimates and easy pick up an drop off.  We plan to use him again.

Rob is professional, punctual, and polite.  He is a true artist and a thoughtful perfectionist -- a great combination.  He took the utmost care with my piece and truly respected my sentimental attachment to it.  He is a pleasure to work with and I highly recommend him.

Repaired a Late 19th century tiger maple lamp table with a broken leg. Removed top of the table, drilled down the leg to insert a dowel through the brittle wood; this Is what was needed for a superior repair. Replaced the top and returned the piece gently polished. Responded to my initial call, performed the repair and returned the table promptly and professionally. Having had a cheaper respir made to the same leg years before, the price for quality work was excellent.

Robert is amazing. He is a incredibly skilled, insightful and a great person with which to work. He restored an antique 19th century mantel mirror that we feared was beyond repair. He was so knowledgable and honest that I would have trusted him if he'd said it was beyond repair. It is a huge piece. Robert refinished and stained it, and it looks better than we could have hoped. After picking up the piece (it's a 2 person job) he brought pieces back to check that the stain color was what we wanted. He matched the color perfectly. Rob even came up with a solution for hanging this heavy piece and mounted it for us. It is a focal point of the room and people always comment. We are so grateful! Since this job, he's been out to work on our antique dining room table. For that project, he offered us a variety of different options (ranging in time and price) which we really appreciated. We hope to work with him again on a number of projects on our wish list. A+++

The table is beautiful and Rob is a pleasure to work with! When we decided that we needed to have our dining room table refinished I researched Angie's list and contacted the highly rated furniture refinishers for quotes to do the job. I learned a lot about best practices by talking to different furniture refinishers and by researching the different methods used by refinishers. Some gave me quotes via email when I sent them a photograph of the table, but Rob wanted to actually see the table before he determined what needed to be done. His references were excellent and the process that he recommended was consistent with the best refinishing practices (he was also trained at the Smithsonian in this art). In addition, his quote was the most reasonable and he agreed to pick up and deliver, which was important to us since the table was too large and heavy for us to bring to him. In the end, we couldn't be more pleased with his work, his professionalism and his helpfulness. In fact, when he picked up the dining room table I asked him about what I could do about smudges that I could not remove from a large coffee table that I was not having refinished. He said that he would take care of that when he returned our dining room table. Today when he returned our beautifully refinished dining room table, he remembered to bring the material to remove the smudges and rings from our coffee table. Although it didn't take him a long time to make the table look like new, he didn't even charge me for the extra work! He also gave me a new can of the product that he recommended that I use on my fine furniture. When I have a need to have any piece of wood furniture refinished, I would absolutely use Robert Kleeman... he is an artist and cares deeply about customer satisfaction.

Given that my father (who had recently passed away) had made these pieces, I was looking for someone who knew what they were doing. When I read that Rob had been a luthier and had trained at the Smithsonian, I knew I'd found the person. And I wasn't disappointed. In fact, I can't quit staring at the transformation of these pieces. He brought them back to life. I remember when Dad was making these in the basement, but I'd forgotten how beautiful they were with new finish.

Rob didn't just strip and slap on some and quot;walnutand quot; finish. He layered the finish with the proper undertone, and brought out the wood grain to an amazing detail. He is such a perfectionist that he was worried that two drawer fronts that were made with two different types of walnut wouldn't match well. He worked to match it, but still wasn't satisfied. I frankly could not even detect a difference. On the hardware, I'd wanted a more modern look but he gently nudged me toward the authentic style for this period--and he was right.

Rob is an artist. He's not cheap, but he's worth every penny.

I called Mr. Kleeman in June to handle this work for us, but he was unable to do so at that time, since he was leaving shortly thereafter for vacation. However, he sent a very professional proposal after coming to the house to examine the two projects, and indicated that he would contact me on July 15 when he returned. We spoke on that date, and although he had another pressing job to complete, he arranged his schedule to complete our projects in a very timely way. He first refinished the floors, and then took the cabinet to his workshop to handle the refinishing of that piece. This cabinet is an older piece of furniture which my husband and I like very much, and wanted to have it look like new. I could never have imagined that it really would, until Mr. Kleeman brought it back to us! I was absolutely amazed that it looked brand new, and that I could not detect even the slightest sign of the scratches and other damage that had been there when he took it away! What an amazing, professional job he did! I almost wish that I were not selling my home and moving out of state, so that I could use his services in the future! I HIGHLY recommend his fine work!

He is a very ethical. He is understateding, and he is quiet. He is underdressed you would never know that he has made violins for some of the most famous violin companies. He does everything hisself, no one else touches his stuff. He comes on time. He is a gentleman.

Very pleased with the work. Extremely impressed with his skills. I have granite counters, back splashes and window sill. Wanted cabinets repaired and colored without the mess and expense of removing the granite and/or installing new cabinets. Robert Kleeman came to my home as scheduled and on time. He listened to what I wanted and advised of several processes that would fulfill my requirements along with estimates. I chose the method: Painting, Glazing and Sealing. The color I wanted was not available/not made, so he made it himself. That was amazing! Then per the agreement and precisely on time, Mr. Kleeman removed all cabinet doors, drawers, refrigerator/freezer panels and took them to his work shop where he did the repairs and coloring. Cabinet exteriors, undersides, side panels, broken/cracked Lazy Susan shelf, etc. were repaired and colored in my kitchen. Mr. Kleeman used drop clothes, was neat and clean throughout. When the color, glaze and sealing dried (a few days) on the cabinetry/wood in my kitchen Mr. Kleeman brought back the cabinet doors, etc. that were refurbished in his shop and re-attached them with new hinges/hardware and drawer slides. Installing the new wooden bottom under the kitchen sink, repairing magnetic strip freezer pull, and a few other repairs were the final touches. The entire process took approximately ten days. The cabinets look new, love the color and family is happy with the outcome. Note: Mr. Kleeman's work is guaranteed. The Invoices were exactly as discussed and included copies of receipts for all hardware purchased.

I mentiontioned to a friend that my kitchen cabinets needed re-staining and repairs made to some furniture, but could not find an affordable skilled craftsman to do the work. My friend referred me to "Robert Kleeman Conservation Restoration" on the internet and also suggested: www.robertkleeman blogspot.com. I was impressed with the photos and explanations of what he's repaired on the website, so I contacted the proprietor via the website. He returned my inquiry w/in 24 hours, came to my home as agreed, gave me an estimate and time frame for pick-up and completion dates. I found the pricing affordable, liked that the work shop was a few suburbs away, so I went with him. He came to my home a few days later on time (8:00a.m.) with written estimates for each piece of furniture. He removed the Burl Wood top from its Silver Chrome Stand and put it in his truck. He also took the other three pieces and put them in his truck. The furniture was returned in approximately (10) ten days as agreed and beautifully restored. My husband and I were so pleased with the outcome that we contracted with him again to do repairs / refurbishing on other furniture including our kitchen cabinets, which I will write reviews on later.
