I chose this roofing company mainly because they promised 10 year warranty when they gave me the quote. Also the price was competitive when they gave me the quote. But I experienced a lot of trouble. I regretted my choice. 1. The actual price was more than what they gave me in estimation. They quoted $4000 but charged $4300. The problem is that I used his former quote as a reference and declined the offer made by the other company. But they ended up charging more than the other company. I feel it is a trick. 2. They did not change the gutter which was apparently in a very bad condition. I am willing to pay them to change the gutter to completely solve the rain and snow problem on the roof/gutter. But when I found that the gutter is very problematic, Pete just told me that I did not ask him to change the gutter. But they are professional roofers, they should have a good judgement when they do the estimation--the gutter was out of shape, has cracks, the wooden board under the gutter was rotten, and the bricks near the joints are washed badly.... So many signs to tell that the gutter was bad and should be changed. They did not even made a suggestion.--btw, I bought the house not long ago, so I did not realize the gutter problem earlier myself, but they are professionals, they should know better than I do. Pete explained that he did not want me to pay $400 for the gutter change. But I already paid $4300 for the roof change, will the $400 make a big difference? But it will make a difference on the house maintenance. 3. After they change the roof, to my dismay, they used two colors for the roof. The main part is dark grey and a flat part is red. Even though it cannot be seen from the ground, I'd rather to have the same color throughout the roof. When I complained this problem to Pete, he said that for the flat part, he only has red roof. If that is the case, why did not they tell me when they asked me for color choices? They should have told me, if you choose dark grey, the flat part will be red. If you choose red, it will be red everywhere. btw, they did my roof with my neighbor and my neighbor chose the dark grey color. I suspect that they just did dark grey for my house to save them trouble of having a different color on two roofs--btw, my home association is OK with either color, which is known. 4. Because they did not change the gutter, I asked them about the gutter earlier this year after I saw very bad icicles hanging from the broken gutter joints every time after a snow. Pete said that they can change the gutter for me if I pay them more and warned me that if I don't let them change the gutter, they will not give me the 10 year roof warranty--because other companies may damage the roof they installed. Then I agreed to pay them and let them replace the gutter. Pete agreed to do it and gave me a quote. But from March to September, I sent him many emails and call him many times to schedule a time to replace the gutter. But Pete never picked up my phone or replied my email. I will paste below all the emails I sent him as evidence. Now the winter is coming soon. If I don't have the gutter changed soon, very likely I will have ice dam stuff again due to the broken gutter and damage my house.... I don't know whether I should keep waiting for Pete's company or look for somebody else to help me. I hate to write a bad review for anybody. I hate to hurt anybody's business. But I am super disappointed and feel cheated and trapped by this company. I see all the good reviews about them here, that is one of the reasons that I choose Pete's company. I just want to share my own experience to give people a full view of what is going on, in case that anybody can be saved from the same trouble. =============== Date: Mon, Sep 28, 2015 at 11:33 PM Subject: Re: To: Pete Ciraulo <
[email protected]> Hi Pete, It has been four months since I emailed you the last time. How are you doing? Will you and your company have time to change my gutter any time soon? Thank you! Installing gutter is just a small issue, I don't understand why you don't reply me. If you are out of business and not doing this any more or if you don't want to do it any more, please let me know so that I can move on and ask other company to help me. Please at least let me know your plan or status, I would really appreciate that. Thank you!!! XXX On Thu, Apr 16, 2015 at 9:53 PM, XXX wrote: Hi Pete, I have not heard from you... I understand that you will be getting busy in summer. I wonder when you may be able to come and replace the gutter? Spring semester is ending soon. After this semester, I won't come to Chicago for the whole summer, I wish that the gutter issue can be fixed before then. Thank you very much for your kind understanding. Looking forward to hearing from you! XXX On Sun, Apr 12, 2015 at 11:58 AM, XXX wrote: Hi Pete, I have not heard from you regarding my email below. When you have some time, would you please reply me? I wonder when you may have time to replace the gutter in the back. I guess that you will be very busy with other roof work when it is very warm, so is it a good time for us to the gutter in April? I am typically in Chicago every Wed and Thursday, sometimes Friday as well. btw, as I mentioned to you, the wooden board under the gutter is rotten. Does your company fix the wooden board below the gutter? I heard from a company that the wooden board can be replaced with some metal one. Do you do that? If you do not, should I find someone who can do it to do it when you work on the gutter at the same time? Or it does not matter when to do what? Thank you! XXX
