Ciraulo & Sons Construction performed a roof removal and installation, as well as soffit, fascia, gutter and downspout replacement. The owner, Peter Ciraulo. spent a lot of time with us answering our many questions to our satisfaction. He made great recommendations regarding the gutters by adding three new downspout locations, and using oversized downspouts on standard size gutters. We are very satisfied with the work completed by this firm.

Our job was completed in the time expected and under the estimate given. The men were polite and hard working, even making sure all materials were cleaned up before leaving. I would definitely recommend this company.

The whole process went off without a hitch. When Peter Ciraulo initially came out to inspect the existing roof, he spent over an hour with me explaining how the old roof would be removed, how all components of the new roof will be installed and what the new roof would look like. Seeing that my house is very old with dormer windows on each end, I asked Peter many, many questions about installation, roof components, etc., and he answered all of them completely; without hesitation and without any complaints. Each day he came out to the house to check in with his crew and give me an update. At the end of the third day he and his crew left me with a beautiful roof with brand new 5" gutters.

I'm on the board of a medium size townhouse complex. We started using Pete Ciraulo about 17 years ago. We always go out for bid. He's not the cheapest nor the most expensive. We keep going back to Pete as he gives outstanding personal, professional service. The quality of work, materials, staff, etc is excellent!!! I cannot say enough good stuff about this company.

Peter Ciraulo is very knowledgeable and professional. He was prompt, personable, and polite. The price was very competitive with other quotes that I received and the attention I received was much, much superior. His work crew did a great job and left the house and yard clean every night. The job turned out great. Peter suggested a different color of shingles than I requested originally, and he turned out to be right. The results were beautiful and the roof is 100% leak free. I would confidently recommend Ciraulo and Sons.

I chose this roofing company mainly because they promised 10 year warranty when they gave me the quote. Also the price was competitive when they gave me the quote. But I experienced a lot of trouble. I regretted my choice.
1. The actual price was more than what they gave me in estimation. They quoted $4000 but charged $4300. The problem is that I used his former quote as a reference and declined the offer made by the other company. But they ended up charging more than the other company. I feel it is a trick.
2. They did not change the gutter which was apparently in a very bad condition. I am willing to pay them to change the gutter to completely solve the rain and snow problem on the roof/gutter. But when I found that the gutter is very problematic, Pete just told me that I did not ask him to change the gutter. But they are professional roofers, they should have a good judgement when they do the estimation--the gutter was out of shape, has cracks, the wooden board under the gutter was rotten, and the bricks near the joints are washed badly.... So many signs to tell that the gutter was bad and should be changed. They did not even made a suggestion.--btw, I bought the house not long ago, so I did not realize the gutter problem earlier myself, but they are professionals, they should know better than I do. Pete explained that he did not want me to pay $400 for the gutter change. But I already paid $4300 for the roof change, will the $400 make a big difference? But it will make a difference on the house maintenance.
3. After they change the roof, to my dismay, they used two colors for the roof. The main part is dark grey and a flat part is red. Even though it cannot be seen from the ground, I'd rather to have the same color throughout the roof. When I complained this problem to Pete, he said that for the flat part, he only has red roof. If that is the case, why did not they tell me when they asked me for color choices? They should have told me, if you choose dark grey, the flat part will be red. If you choose red, it will be red everywhere. btw, they did my roof with my neighbor and my neighbor chose the dark grey color. I suspect that they just did dark grey for my house to save them trouble of having a different color on two roofs--btw, my home association is OK with either color, which is known.
4. Because they did not change the gutter, I asked them about the gutter earlier this year after I saw very bad icicles hanging from the broken gutter joints every time after a snow. Pete said that they can change the gutter for me if I pay them more and warned me that if I don't let them change the gutter, they will not give me the 10 year roof warranty--because other companies may damage the roof they installed. Then I agreed to pay them and let them replace the gutter. Pete agreed to do it and gave me a quote. But from March to September, I sent him many emails and call him many times to schedule a time to replace the gutter. But Pete never picked up my phone or replied my email. I will paste below all the emails I sent him as evidence.
Now the winter is coming soon. If I don't have the gutter changed soon, very likely I will have ice dam stuff again due to the broken gutter and damage my house.... I don't know whether I should keep waiting for Pete's company or look for somebody else to help me.
I hate to write a bad review for anybody. I hate to hurt anybody's business. But I am super disappointed and feel cheated and trapped by this company. I see all the good reviews about them here, that is one of the reasons that I choose Pete's company. I just want to share my own experience to give people a full view of what is going on, in case that anybody can be saved from the same trouble.

Thank you very much for your kind understanding. Looking forward to hearing from you!

have hired a company to add insulation in the attic and fix the attic
fan. I wonder when you may have time to replace the gutter in the back. I
guess that you will be very busy with other roof work when it is very

in Chicago every Wed and Thursday, sometimes Friday as well.
btw, as I mentioned to you, the wooden board under the gutter is rotten.
Does your company fix the wooden board below the gutter? I heard from a
company that the wooden board can be replaced with some metal one. Do
you do that? If you do not, should I find someone who can do it to do it
when you work on the gutter at the same time? Or it does not matter
when to do what?
Thank you!

"Miss [Member Name Removed] did not want too spend additional money on the gutter at the time. We had already made several repairs to the downspouts for no charge. Look at the emails that she shows, she appeared to be very satisfied until we did not get in touch with each other. The additional cost was for additional wood repair that exceeded the allowance that we give. Every proposal we submit shows the detail on wood replacement and I informed her during the course of the project like I do with all customers. Miss [Member Name Removed] called months later too replace the gutter that we just could not get too. I tell homeowners all the time to do it now because we will never be able to get back for what now is a small project. By the way, she has a brown roof with a brown membrane flat roof which match very close. They only make about 5 colors for the membrane roof so we can only get close and like she said you can't see it. We have done several of these Townhouses in her complex and no complaints what so ever. She has a great roof on that home. Sour Grapes Miss [Member Name Removed]"

Ciraulo and Sons Construction exceeded all expectations. From the initial meeting with Pete, we were impressed with his honesty, professionalism, great customer relations, and competitive pricing.

The proposal Pete provided was concise and stated exactly the work to be completed. Pete went to great lengths to ensure questions were fully clarified and explained.  The work was extensive and included a full tear off of the old roof; new soffits, fascia, gutters, and downspouts; repair of pre-existing structural damage.

Specific to any unforeseen issues that went outside the scope of the initial estimate, Pete was very detailed in his explanations and extremely conscientious of the potential impact to the overall budget.

Pete provided references and addresses of previous roofing jobs in order to evaluate workmanship, shingle styles, and colors.

It was reassuring to know that no payment was due until the job was completed to our full satisfaction.

Pete?s attention to scheduling ensured the necessary permits were pulled, the dumpster was in place, and Leo and his crew were on time and ready to hit the ground running.  Work started exactly as agreed upon.  Pete was at the site multiple times each day and always available by phone, if needed.  The project took five full days and Pete was involved every step of the way.

We were impressed with how hard Leo and his crew worked.  Their work ethic and quality of work is truly commendable.  In addition, the team went to great lengths to ensure their overall safety while on the roof and scaffolding.  There were no shortcuts taken on this aspect.

Our home has extensive landscaping. The team was extremely mindful to protect all plantings and ensure no damage to the overall landscape.  No easy feat!

Clean up was handled as the work was completed and the crew ensured a thorough cleaning at the end of each day, checking for any nails or other small debris.

I can?t say enough about the outstanding experience with Pete, Leo, and the extended team.  Pete Ciraulo is now my go-to guy for any subsequent home improvement needs or recommendations.

On June 9th, the paint in our livingroom adjacent one of the skylights began to seriously peel away exposing what appeared to be damp drywall underneath (the ceiling is 16' high in our livingroom, so appearance is the best I can do).
So, I reached out to Peter Ciraulo on June 10th.  He called soon thereafter.  It took him a little while to remember our job, but once he did, he was extremely quick to offer to come out and fix whatever might be causing the leak.  It was his best guess that the chimney flashing directly above that section of the roof may have been bent out of place.
He felt that it was an easy fix that wouldn't require my wife or I to be home when he would inspect and repair the problem in the "next day or so."
We were thrilled that Mr. Ciraulo stood behind his work, even after nearly 10 years.  We haven't had any significant rain since my communications with him, but with a response like his how could it not have been fixed properly?

Sorry I waited a year to write this review, but I wanted to go through the rainy Fall, snowy Winter and rainy Spring to make sure that our prior leaky roof issues had been resolved before completing the review.  Everything went great!  We have a complicated roof - 90-year old house, a couple of additions and many peaks/gables. We owned the house during the last tear-off which was 20 years ago, but had been experiencing leaks and ice damming water damage for the last 15 years (apparently that roofer didn't do a good job...).  We had several roofers out to try and fix these problems, but no one could ever completely resolve them.
Last summer, we tried again.  I called three different roofers.  Two gave me a bunch of options, all of which involved patchwork solutions or a new roof.  When I called Ciraulo, the owner (Pete) got back to me quickly and took it upon himself to fix the leak on our deck roof during his initial inspection (simply plugged a nail hole w some caulk, but none of the other estimators did that!).  He said he would only do a complete tear off because the patchwork solutions would be futile since the existing roof was already 20 years old and probably wasn't up to code with the snow/ice shielding (which was likely the source of some of the leaks).  He asked me how long we intended to live in the house (a long time) and said he would feel irresponsible doing anything other than the tear off.  His is estimate came in close to the others that I received (not the lowest/not the highest), but I appreciated his candor, so we went with Ciraulo.
The crew showed up on time every day (4 days), were very professional and courteous to me and my family. They found a few additional issues that were really not their concern as roofers, but they attended to them (at no extra cost) because the problems were related to how water flows and drains off the roof.  Pete Ciraulo came by every day to make sure everything was going well and the main guy on the crew was very good about keeping the owner and me informed of any issues.
Overall, a great experience as far as roof replacements go.  Very attentive to details that are important to homeowners.  Cleaned everything up at the end of each day.  Stayed right on target with the estimate.  Best of all, the roof looks great and all of the leaking, ice damming problems have been solved. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Ciraulo & Sons!

Ciraulo & Sons Construction did an amazing job!  The crew was friendly, thorough and worked 12 hours days.  They worked methodically, under the supervision of Peter.  Our property was kept clean through all the construction.  Our house looks beautiful and we have already had many compliments from the neighbors.

Tried getting an estimate for a roof replacement.  Left a couple of voice mails to get an estimate, but didn't even get the courtesy of a return call.  I understand some roofing companies may be busy, but at least a return call to a potential customer would be common professional courtesy.

Peter was very informative when we initially met him.  When he inspected our roof, he noticed a leak around a chimney and put duct tape on it as a temporary fix.  He promptly returned our calls and thoroughly answered all our questions.  He was fine with us using a different brand of shingle than he usually uses.  The crew worked hard and did everything per the contract.

Prior to retaining Ciraulo & Sons for the full tear off and new roof on our 1957 home, we requested bids and conducted interviews from four (4) different roofing contractors. Having negative experiences with subcontractors in the past, we were very diligent to not only understand the details of the bids, but also to assure the details of the work to be performed would align with our expectations. This process took some time, but our main concern was the quality of the work, not necessarily the lowest price. After our interview with Pete Ciraulo, we were very impressed with his experience, knowledge of the trade, and honesty.
Due to the excessive rains this summer, it took approximately 4 - 6 weeks for the work to be performed. The delay was worth it, as he and his crew did an exceptional job! The crew arrived promptly every day at 7:30am and worked until 7/7:30pm each evening (past dark). Through the progress of the job, Pete remained in touch with us each day, either in person on site or via telephone, to talk through the work performed or work to be perfumed that day.
It goes without say, that we highly recommend Ciraulo & Sons.

From start to finish, from owner to foreman to crew, Ciraulo and Sons Construction epitomized professionalism all the way.
Our job entailed tearing off the old roof on our house and attached garage and replacing it with a new one. Right from the get-go, Owner Pete Ciraulo gave us a very detailed proposal. At our initial meeting, Pete made his recommendations for our project; we expressed concerns about our skylights and protecting the rain sensor; and, all of us fine-tuned the contract.
In addition to this, Pete gave us a document explaining our customer rights. He offered, and did provide, proof of bonding, license and insurance.
Pete was on site every day. He checked the progress of the job and answered our questions. He also took pictures of the leaky skylight on our dormer. He showed us a skylight installation flaw which had caused the leak. Pete and his foreman applied a better method for sealing the skylight.
Foreman Leo and his crew were friendly, conscientious, and obviously took pride in the quality of their work. They worked tirelessly. Pete and Leo have worked together for 17 years. Their working relationship has resulted in a mutual respect and trust in one another. This carried over to their crew, and inevitably to us as well.
The crew took especial care in protecting our new Azek deck with plywood and canvas, as well as being careful not to damage any shrubs or landscaped plants. And the clean up? Except for the beautiful new roof, you couldn't tell that we had any work done.
The entire roofing job was done to perfection and contract specifications. And yes, our rain sensor is working perfectly.
You'd think that's all there is to say, but there is one more thing to say. It's about the money. Pete requires no deposit before the job! He would only accept payment after the job was completed to our satisfaction and that of the building commissioner. That's professionalism. That's Pete.
Thanks Pete, Leo and guys! Jim and Joanne

Made the arrangements with Pete, the owner, and he no-showed. My wife waited patently for the 3 hour window. I left a message at 11:30 to check on the status and never received a call back. Completely unprofessional.
Response from Ciraulo & Sons Construction, LLC

"Holy Cow! [member name removed] didn't waste much time. He is right however, I spoke with him on the evening of the 13th, scheduled a meeting on the morning of the 14th and I completely blew it. I spoke to him on the morning of the 15th to apologize and also looked at the problem he has on his home. I try very hard to not be the typical contractor who never shows on time or doesn't show at all. We have been extremely busy over the last few days with all the rainy weather and I probably shouldn't have overloaded my schedule. I always give customers a day and time of arrival with a minimum of a one hour window. If I am delayed I always call the customer. I am a small company that I have run solely on my own for 20 years or better. I answer all messages, meet all customers, write all the proposals and run my very experienced crew by myself. There are a few every season that get away from me and unfortunately this was one of them. I truly believe however that the pros of me handling everything out weigh the alternative of having a third party. READ MY REVIEWS PLEASE. WHEN WORK IS PERFORMED FOR HOMEOWNERS WE ARE "A" RATED. I apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused the homeowners and will continue too try and do better on being on time for scheduled appointments. I can't say enough about Pete Ciraulo and his crew. Pete not only provided the best price, his crew was the most professional construction workers I have ever dealt with. What we thought  would be a major headache turned out to be a pleasant experience. They delivered on everything they promised and then some. We received four bids on our roof replacement. One of the bids was double what Pete Ciraulo had quoted. What impressed me about Pete was that he provided us with a list of his recent customers along with addresses and phone numbers, that says a lot about his business practices. I would highly recommend Ciraulo Roofing for your next job.
