The new vents do not work at all.  I felt the work was shoddy as well.  To make matters worse, I noticed a gouge in my new hardwood floor just outside the closet where most of the work had occurred.  I also noticed many scratches on the hardwood floor in the same general area as the gouge.  The gouge and scratches happened during the expansion work.  I took digital photos of the expansion work and sent them to a HVAC Sales Engineer.  He agreed with me that the expansion, as it was performed, would not work.  I also brought a 36 year HVAC veteran into my home to inspect the work.  At one point, the veteran and his partner started to laugh at the poor quality installation.  They too, agreed with the Sales Engineer and myself, that the expansion wouldn't work.  The veteran also noted that the cold air return on the lower level should never had been enlarged, because it would defeat what I was trying to accomplish, and that was to increase the cooling capability of my central air conditioning to the upper level of my home.  Advanced Mechanical boasts 100% guaranteed work, but yet has offered to re-do the work, or return my $950. for HVAC work.  At this point, all I want is my $950 returned so that I can re-hire another HVAC contractor to properly extend my cold air returns.  I will also need to hire a flooring company to repair the damage to my hard wood flooring.  I would not recommend hiring Advanced Mechanical for HVAC work.  Again, I would just like a full refund of my $950.

The A/C went out on a hot July day.  My wife found them on the internet, and Chet showed up in just a few hours.  He went to work and found the problem immediately.  He is professional and knows his business.  I was expecting a big charge for the quick response on the hot day.  However, the service call was only $65, which I though was reasonable.  I used him again to do some duct work in the basement.  Again, everything went smoothly.
