Premier Design & Cabinetry

Nice people. Their recommended contractor was extremely slow at getting work done. His workers were all very nice, and for the most part did very good work. The tile work was excellent. The workers were very accommodating. It all sounds good until a 3 to 4 week job goes on for 11 weeks. We have also been waiting 5 months for a couple of touch-ups.

The contractor, John Klich and his crew were a huge problem. First, they began work without a permit in the window. Then we had a leak (a very large one) after hours due to their mistake and no one was reachable. My spouse and I spent 2 hours cleaning up all the water. The contractor left the door open and unlocked one day after work was done. We got lucky that nothing was stolen and that our middle school aged children didn't walk into the home after school to find someone in our home who didn't belong there. He put our safety at risk. One of the crew tapped his bucket with wet wallpaper bits in it on our fence and left the trash in our backyard. It was cleaned up, but only after I requested it. The crew put a new door on our bathroom, but it had a hole in it that they did not notice until we pointed it out. The contractor told us "it was in the contract" that he purchase a mirror for us in lieu of a medicine cabinet. I was disappointed that I didn't order a medicine cabinet, but it had been 3 months since I placed the order and couldn't remember what I did order. Come to find out a few days later, that the medicine cabinet was in our garage all along, and the only reason it got installed was because someone else noticed it was out there. One of the plumbers brought up a political/racial topic in my home, unsolicited. I asked him to stop talking to me about it. He would not stop. I had to ask him 3 times to stop. Most conversations were uncomfortable, weird or bizarre. I did complain to Sheri, the owner of the company, who took care of a few issues. We had ordered a sink from the supply company and for some reason it never got sent and she took care of that issue. She did keep telling us she had limited control over John. Which is fine, but then don't recommend him in one breath and then in the next, claim he's a totally different entity. It was also hard to believe the contractor and Premier's owner were so separate when photos of the contractor's family are all over Sheri's personal facebook page. Premier design told us the project would take 2-3 weeks. The contractor kept telling us it would be finished soon, though not in 2-3 weeks. The actual work they did was fine, minus all the issues, but they didn't seem to know what they were doing. We were repeatedly told we could have it done fast or have it done right. I can understand that it wasn't going to be done in 2-3 weeks, but 9? We finally had to tell them they could either finish by a particular date or we would have to hire someone else to finish it. My advice? Never pay for ANY labor up front, never sign a contract without a specific end date and never hire Premier or John Klich.

I liked the job they did.  It looks nice.  We would recommend them.  No unexpected issues with the services provided. 

We hired Premier Design and worked with Kristin Howard for our kitchen remodel. Kristin was nothing but patient & supportive during the whole process. She answered all of my 10,000 questions, and really helped me come up with a very attractive and functional kitchen. We actually ended up with more cabinet space than I anticipated, which is a huge plus considering we were bursting at the seams before with stuff everywhere!! Kristin solved all of those issues for us with roll-outs in all cabinets, which resulted in no more stacking & unstacking to get to what I need!
I highly recommend using a designer such as Premier Design because they will guide you from start to finish and are invested in your project. Kristin came out to our house many times throughout the project to make sure everything was going to plan. We had a couple of curve balls, but Kristin & Sheri were able to help us figure them out so that we could move forward. Every time I walk into the kitchen now, I smile. Thank you Premier Design!

Premier Design and Cabinetry seem to be new to the cabinet business and are certainly not educated  about the line of cabinetry I purchased. They had to look up or call the company for many of the questions I had about the cabinet line before I purchased them. That should have been a red flag!! . Do yourself a favor and shop around. There are so many other cabinet shops that carry the same products as Premier Design.  I have contacted a few of them in the Chicago land area that are very well versed on their cabinet lines and have been invaluable to me in getting my kitchen to look the way I initially envisioned it. I now love my kitchen but not due to the poor service I received from Premier. The quality of their kitchen designs are at best average and the fact that they do not know their product line is just unacceptable when you take into consideration what kitchens cost. I am sure that Premier will respond to this review and try to defend themselves. The bottom line is you go to a cabinet shop for designs and knowledge and Premier just doesn't offer that.

Helped with kitchen design, and ordering cabinets for kitchen project. Respectful of budget; good communication throughout; pleasant showroom. Kristen Howard was great.

It went very well, they were easy to work with and designs were presented in a timely manner.

Premier Design did cabinets-they are beautiful! Service was awesome! Pat Hoffman was our contractor. He was terrible. A rogue and careless-hack!
