Dealing with the owner (father) of this store was fine. He was nice and very polite and patient. His son I wasn't too impressed with. After they made repairs I called my mechanic father that lives in another state to go over the repairs made on the car. He advised that the labor and parts for the job done should have been around $800 for a fair price and that we were way over charged. Also we weren't able to pay for replacing the tie rods because that would have taken the total to over $1500 and we only had $1200 put away. When we picked the car up and talked about the remaining work to be done, the son advised me that the cost to do that would be much higher than the quote his father had given us because there wouldn't be other work included. He kept talking in circles when we were picking up the car and kept saying things like "it's really all about math and I don't like to discuss that with the customers."  The good thing about this company is that they made the repair in one day. We had a rental so that was really great. We will continue to search for an honest mechanic in our area, and in the meantime we will drive over to the old neighborhood and use one we trust. Also this shop gives not discounts or promotions to Angies list members.

For the recent alternator replacement, I couldn't start the truck one day. AAA came out, and replaced the battery (at a fair price, and it was about 4 years old).

One week later, truck wouldn't start. Charged the battery and got it up to Henry Ales about 9:00 in the morning. No appointment, but they managed to squeeze me in anyway (you should make an appointment - they're busy). Diagnostics, and the alternator was quickly identified as the problem. Part ordered, delivered and replaced by noon. Got an oil change and a few other minor repairs while it was in the shop. No problems since then (3 weeks).

That's a pretty typical experience of mine, with many different makes and models of cars over 20 years.
