Grants - Appliance

The bottom line is Grants Appliance Electronics & More partnered with a shady business partner, and reneged on their promise to me. After shopping many stores, I bought an Amana washer\dryer and a promise of $500 in grocery rebates (in the form of gift cards) from Grants Appliance in March 2009. The deciding factor was the offer to get $500 in grocery gift cards. There was a big banner advertising the offer, and the sales rep sold me on it as well. The sales rep told me I could either get a discount off the sales price or get $500 in grocery rebates. Between the two options, the sales rep steered me towards the rebate. Grant's Business partner, claimyourgroceries, was supposed to send me a $25 gift card to Dominick's grocery store every month for 18 months, as long as I spent $100/mo at Dominick's and submitted my receipts. I spent 6 months going to the same store, collecting receipts, copying receipts and mailing the receipts. claimyourgroceries declared bankruptcy in June '09, The BBB in Arizona received hundreds of complaints before this. Grant's Appliance could and should have contacted me to tell me of the bankruptcy and save me from wasting my time saving, copying, and mailing receipts to a business partner that they knew was bankrupt and would not be sending out the gift cards that were sold to me. On 10-08-09 I called the sales rep that sold me the grocery gift cards. He offered to set me up on a similar plan with a different company. I told him I didn't want to waste any more of my time, and wanted a partial refund, representing the discount that I passed on at the time of purchase. He said that would not happen. He compared the purchase of the w + d to buying a Cadillac and driving it off the lot. I couldn't come back and get a discount. The difference of course is I have never been promised $500 in gift cards with the purchase of a car before. I was passed to the sales manager. He told me that Grant's could not do anything other than offer me the chance to start submitting more grocery receipts for the promise of $600 in gift cards. Of course this rebate program would cost me $9.95 to enroll. I said there is more that can be done, as in a partial refund. The sales manager told me someone from customer service would call me. After a week went by, and not hearing from anyone, I sent and email to the Grants' email address posted on their website. Still not hearing from anyone, I submitted a complaint with the BBB. Finally, I got a response. The response was an offer to give me $100 off my next $500+ purchase. Oh my god, Grants tried to get me to spend more money at there store by offering a 20% off coupon to me. Their other offer was to enroll me in a similar grocery rebate program that would cost me $9.95 to enroll. Then I would have to start over with the saving + submitting receipts for 18 months.
