"This individual was looking for the lowest price. That's fine. If you’re looking for the lowest price please do not call Premier Land Surveying. I'm not interested in competing on price. I'm interested in competing on service; possibly timing. Certainly not price. I get very frustrated when I give a price quote and then the person wants to haggle. How did this person treat me as a Design Professional? Certainly with no respect to the price I quoted. I just gave a price and this person gets upset that I don't know my competitors are cheaper? I don't call my competitors pricing shopping. I figure out what it'll take for us to do the job and quote the fee. Of course I get turned off and frustrated when the attempt at haggling starts. Consider this: a high school graduate can sooner get a JD degree (attorney) and open their own law practice than get a surveying degree and open their own surveying practice. Why doesn't the general public treat us surveyors with respect? I think because the general public doesn’t understand surveying. Often the client is calling because someone else told them they need the survey (permitting, loans, and improvements). I'm glad this person went with another surveyor. I need clients who understand and respect the land surveying profession. Not clients that are just looking for the lowest price on what the general public often thinks is a commodity. Surveying is not a commodity and there are many differences between each surveying company and the product (survey) they issue. Also this individual obviously didn’t even read my business description before calling me."

THE PRICES ARE DIFFERENT FOR VARIOUS REASONS, MY WORK LOAD, TIMING, TYPE OF SURVEY AND LOCATION. PERSONALLY I AM A LICENSED PROFESSIONAL SURVEYOR WHO WILL ACTUALLY COME OUT TO YOUR SITE AND DO THE FIELD WORK MYSELF (BESIDES THE OFFICE WORK). MANY LICENSED PROFESSIONAL SURVEYORS SUPERVISE CREWS THAT ARE MADE UP OF LICENSED AND UNLICENSED PERSONAL. WHEN REQUESTING A QUOTE FOR A SURVEY PLEASE HAVE THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION READY: WHY YOU NEED THE SURVEY, PROPERTY ADDRESS, PROPERTY DESCRIPTION (DEED), PROPERTY TAX NUMBER, TYPE OF SURVEY, TIME FRAME OF WHEN YOU NEED THE SURVEY DELIVERED.
