Local Home Appliance
About us
Local Home Appliance is a family owned company. We pride ourselves in timely service with many years of experience. Our company was started in 1967 by Will Shumaker. It is now owned by Matt Shumaker. We are in our second generation of service! We have experience with many brands and types of appliances. We are a very conservative company, both financially and environmentally. We strive to achieve the highest quality of work for a reasonable cost. Appliance Repair is something I have been involved with all of my life. I enjoy the work and my customers. I also enjoy the challenge of learning to service new brands of appliances. We even service LG appliances as well as other import brands. We are, also, willing to give technical information over the phone whenever possible. Give us a call and we will do our best to answer any questions we can! We service Lake County, Mchenry County, and parts of Cook county. We do our best to use new technology in our business when appropriate and cost effective. This is done to increase efficiency and reduce cost. Thank you! Matt Shumaker

"Thank you for the work! As a small business, we rely on word of mouth to grow. We are grateful for every individual service call. Have a great day!"

"Thanks for the review. It is a bummer to condemn an appliance for a customer. But sometimes that is the best that can be done. I look forward to servicing your appliances in the future. Haha [Member Information Removed] great day!"

"Thank you for the work. I am always thankful for a new client. It is a bummer when the first repair for a new client requires an expensive part. So, I appreciate the positive review and your comments here and at your home during the repair. Have a great day!"

"Thanks for the positive review. As a servicer, I get nervous when accomplishing an expensive repair (expensive part) because I do not want other customers to assume the repair was costly due to high service rates. That is why I wanted to research the part for you before initializing a service call. It is also difficult accomplishing an expensive service call as the first time work for a customer. So, I am glad you are satisfied with the work. I look forward to continuing to do work for you should any other issues arise. Matt"
"It is always a pleasure to be able to accomplish a repair without the use of expensive parts. I appreciate the opportunity to service your refrigerator. Hopefully it will prove to be a reliable appliance for years to come."

"Thank you for the work. It was great speaking with you while checking the dishwasher."
He stopped at my house, diagnosed the problem and fixed it within 20 minutes. The dryer had a bad gas igniter which he replaced. He also replaced the solenoids at my request as a preventative maintenance tactic.
The clothes dryer now generates heat to dry the clothes.
"Thank you for the business. I try hard to provide service in a prompt manor."
Matt went on to recommend buying an American brand for our next purchase, as they're easier to repair and have better longevity.
Matt gave me an honest assessment, even if it meant that he could potentially miss out on charging for a house visit. Such honest is hard to find, but it's surely appreciated. I feel like I can trust Matt. I got off the phone and started writing this review. I then realized that our dryer was squeaking too and I had forgotten to ask Matt about that. I called Matt right back to ask whether it was something repairable. He said it was and I was glad to hear that he was available relatively soon to come take a look.
Based on our interaction thus far, I'm thoroughly impressed. Keep up it up, Matt!!
