We were absolutely thrilled with the results. Marya Taylor Interiors made decorating a large house fun and easy. My experience with other designers is that it takes them the entire project to finally “get” my style. In the meantime, I end up running from showroom to showroom, looking at so much stuff, that I end up confused and wondering why I took this project on in the first place (or what my style really is!). I wasn’t expecting much different, but decided to sign up with Marya after an initial consultation as she seemed somehow easier to work with right from my first conversation and her pricing was more affordable than some other estimates I had gotten. Well – this was an entirely different experience. Marya listened carefully to what we wanted, asked us about our lifestyle and how we planned to use the different rooms, and then went to work. She didn’t ask me to go running around looking at a million different things. Instead, she came to our home with her ideas and floorplan layouts, showing exactly what she had in mind, from furnishings, to color samples, to accessories. Everything was so easy – and she hit the nail exactly on the head. I couldn’t have told you what I wanted but I knew it when I saw it! All it took was a slight tweak here and there, and she would be off and running, perfecting what was already a great starting point. In the end, we only paid for the products and were amazed to find that the design work was all included in the price – and not built into the cost of the products! The results were so amazing, and the price was well within our budget, so we decided to keep going to the second story for paint and window treatments – something we had definitely not thought possible when we were in the initial planning stages and were shopping around with other designers.
We love the results, and we now have a home that suits our relaxed lifestyle in ways that we had not thought possible. From planning to completion, it was only four months. We didn't expect it to be that fast as the furnishings and window treatments were custom orders. Any issue we had was handled expediently and to our satisfaction. I had been worried that our house would not reflect our style, but it couldn’t be further from the truth. We ask ourselves every day why we didn’t do this sooner! My advice is to not wait to get your dream house – it changes the way you think and feel. Would most definitely recommend Marya. The results are spectacular and came in under budget! That was a nice surprise. Marya Taylor Interiors does not charge for the design time and bill by the hour. Her operation is set up so that I paid only for the products and installation services. This freed up cash to purchase product for my home instead of tying it up in billing hours. I had previous experience working with other designers and it is typical to charge either an hourly rate or a flat fee that can take up at least $5,000 of the available budget. At first I was skeptical that the products from MTI would be cheap or lacking in quality construction, but, I couldn't be happier with the quality of goods and how fast they arrived. If you are skeptical of the results take a look at Marya Taylor Interiors website. Our traditional interior is featured somewhere in the portfolio section.
Marya began each project with a short interview to understand my wants, needs, and budget, took measurements, and made an appointment to return with potential options. She then presented a few different options along with pricing and order times for each.
In some cases, she presented a solution that required only new paint and furniture. In other cases, the solution was more involved - replacing and updating counter tops and light fixtures, new window treatments, etc.. All options presented were within budget. A deposit was due at that time with the balance due at the end when all work was completed.
Marya coordinated all subcontractors and placed all furniture - all while I was away at work. When I returned home on the final day of each project, all furniture was placed, all pictures were hung, the place was spotless, and she always presented some sort of special gift to celebrate the completed project.
The result has been repeated complements from friends/family who "love what I have done with the place". It was even featured a couple years ago in the Daily Herald. I have no complaints. Marya has been a joy to work with.
