Perfect. Wayne and his crew are perfectionists. By far the best general contractor in the Chicagoland area.

Wayne and crew are very professional and neighborly at the same time. He and his workers showed up on time and worked quietly through the days. Wayne himself came out to discuss the deck, options and concerns. He worked well with us on scheduling and always kept us informed. After we settled on the work to be performed, Wayne would call with updates: permits, deliveries, and when the work would begin/end. His pride in his work showed with our beautiful restored deck. I never like "surprises" in projects and Wayne made this one simple. I would recommend his company to all my family and friends

They did an excellent job. They were here everyday like they said and finished on time and did a super job so much so I even paid them extra.

I am a licensed Home Inspector in the State of Illinois and Wayne was recommended to me by several contacts that I have in the business.  After checking out his references and a few jobs that he had done, we sat down and developed a plan for the work that I needed done to my home and he came up with a quote and schedule for the work. 
After I had an architect draw up the plans, Wayne and Erick handled the permitting process, material ordering and handling and set to work.  Throughout the project, they were very punctual and always kept me in the loop regarding the work being done.  They also were able to adapt the project to unforeseen issues that came up (i.e. the repair of rotted framing, sheathing, structural members) and handled these issues seamlessly with my approval. 

Wayne and Erick were very easy to work with and as the project progressed, both offered suggestions and ideas that really enhanced the curb appeal of the house.  They also listened well when I had ideas and changes to the plan.  Together, we all came up with the best solutions forthe fine details of the project.  After all, it is these fine details that really make a quality project stand out from the rest! 
Wayne also has relationships with several quality sub-contractors that handled the electrical, plumbing, excavating and concrete work required for my project.  I must say, I was also impressed with the quality of his subs.  They too were always punctual and offered quality results at affordable prices.
After my experiences with my rather large home remodeling project, I would highly recommend Wayne Mortensen & Son, General Contractors to anyone who wants high quality work done at reasonable prices!

Everything was performed on time and at the quoted price.  Making changes was painless and any cost differences were discussed & agreed to prior to be performed.  Their selection of subcontractors was also excellent & they performed equally as well.   The quality of their work was beyond excellent.  We could not have picked a better company to perform this job for us.  Wayne & his son are very easy to work with & their integrity is beyond what we would normally expect.  

Wayne may not always be the cheapest, but his work is outstanding.  Friends of our elected to use another company for their addition and the project turned into a complete disaster.  Because of the excellent work & relationship we have had with Wayne's company for many years, we do not even waste our time trying anyone else.  As they say, "You get what you pay for".

The delivery of the vanity got delayed a week, so a temporary one was brought in, without having to ask.

Because the existing shed was located too close to the garage, the sloping ground had to be excavated for the replacement.  Wayne came up with an excellent idea to build a retaining wall & drop the shed into the lowered space.  It solved the problem, created a mini patio area & looks fantastic.

We could not have picked a better company to perform this job for us.  Wayne & his son are very easy to work with & their integrity is beyond what we would normally expect.  We have zero complaints.  Wayne may not be the cheapest, but as always, you get what you pay for.

Wayne was very responsive from the first time we contacted him back in January. He was the only contractor who was willing to take the extra time to send us a written estimate of the work we were going to need in the future. We were in the middle of negotiating with the sellers of our new home on repairs we would need from the inspection report. Even though it was the middle of winter and there was no guarantee of getting the work in the future, Wayne was willing to go and take a look and give us an estimate. As a result, we were able to get $1500 credit from our sellers! Going the extra mile was the reason we then called Wayne back to actually do the work once we closed on the house. He was extremely responsive and communicated via both email and phone which is extremely helpful in today's busy, electronic age. He even responded once while he was on vacation in Hawaii! That's dedication! Wayne was also very open and honest regarding the repair. It was refreshing to hear him tell us the repair was not as extensive as he originally thought. Wayne and his folks were extremely reliable, prompt and professional through the entire process. I would definitely recommend him to anyone and will use him in the future for any other work we need on our home.

Wayne did a wonderful job on all counts.  Wayne has a very low key, professional demeaner and is very easy to talk to.  He is very detail oriented and will provide accurate bids on jobs.  It will amaze you how other general contractors will provide quotes with absolutely no details, so this is very unique and important.  He communicated very well and scheduled his subcontractors to optimize the work flow.  He went out of his way to deal with any scheduling problems that came up, even those imposed by us.  I trust Wayne and his subcontactors to the point of allowing him to work without me being present and provided him a house key.  Wayne even worked while the family was away and on vacation.  Wayne provides great insight for suggestions if you are open for that.  I have worked with Wayne for over 10 years and am presently working with him on a new front door installation, so would highly recommend him for any job.

Do:  Make sure to ask questions and ask for suggestions.
        Understand what is driving his schedule as he is probably got several jobs going at once, so you will not be the only job being
        worked on.
        Feel comfortable with his honesty
        Get additional quotes just to prove to yourself that he is the best choice.  

DON'TS ;    Big don't for any job is to start the demolition without having all new materials available.  This is not specific to Wayne as he will tell you the same thing.  Have all cabinets, cabinet hardware, applicances, toilet, sink, faucets, tubs, cabinet tops, etc sitting in your garage before you tear up any room.  Wayne will amaze you as to how quickly he can get work done, so not having the above items will make the renovation so much longer than it needs to be.  This certainly does not apply to those items that Wayne will provide as he will be on top of the delivery and installation.
