CUSTOM REMODELING

Description of Work: Jay Keeling of Custom Remodeling performed a major home remodeling project for our house. We had an 1800 square feet addition plus a 3 car garage added to our existing 1500 square foot home. Jay Keeling acted as general contractor for this project. He coordinated the appropriate contractors for heating, plumbing, electrical, excavation drywall etc. His company conducted all interior remodeling and customization, as well as the general carpentry. Custom Remodeling worked with both the architect as well as the required County and Township inspectors for all phases of the project. From the start, Jay and his crew were careful to coordinate the impact of the remodeling on our family, as we stayed in the home during the construction. Jay Keeling conducted full focus on this project during the 4 months it took to build. Whenever an unexpected problem occurred, Jay carefully evaluated all options used care to find out the impact on code and cost, and explained our alternatives so that we could jointly determine the actions to take. As the result any over-runs on the project were minimal, and fully understood before any change was made. Specifically this remodeling included two phases of construction - Conversion of an existing structure to new living quarters and the building of new construction: The conversion was to remodel the existing garage to a two story living quarters. The main floor was converted to a second in-law kitchen, a hallway to the new 3 car garage, a second entryway and a laundry room. The second floor of the old existing garage was built to expand two existing bedrooms and to add a new hallway and another large bedroom. Also, we fully converted our existing main kitchen. The original main kitchen was fully gutted, with a removal of a wall and the installation of a fully new kitchen floor, radiant heat, tile, cabinets, appliances etc. The new construction portion of the project included the excavation of a 50' x 40' area attached to the existing garage/home to add the in-law living quarters. This new construction included the addition of a bedroom, bathroom, living room/dining room and entry from kitchen. Due to the size of the new living area, new mechanicals were added including a second furnace, electrical panels, sewer/plumbing and coordination of future plans for exterior landscaping and decking.
