Before we could even get started, Brent pointed out that there was a large amount of carpentry work that needed to happen first - to replace dry-rotted wood found around most of the window trims - as well as a garage service door - some of the covered porch pillars/posts, and newel posts that were previously built of pine and did not stand up to the elements. Basically, it would have been a waste to paint over what was there as the deterioration had just gone too far. We asked Brent to delay the start until we could get that woodwork replaced.
Once the fixes were done, Brent and crew got to work - prepping with power wash, sanding where needed, holes filled, caulk, some priming and finally the paint. The house is a large, 2-story with approx. 25 pillar/posts and 8 newel posts - spindles, spindles and more spindles around the covered porches. In addition, we had one bedroom, bathroom and walk-in closet done - ceilings and walls. The project required some 60 gallons of paint. We mention this to provide an idea of the scope of the job against the cost.
Brent and crew were a real pleasure to work with - prompt, courteous, neat and good humor even during some very hot temperature days and mad wasp nests - we can not say enough about the workmanship and attention to detail. We will call upon Marach Painting for any future projects.
