I called the company about 2:30 and was told someone would stop by at 4:00. At 4:00 he showed up and started work on
the drain. At 5:30 the drain was clear.
- I have used Corks on four separate occasions in the past 18 months. 3 different technicians were all prompt and courteous.
- The first visit was to clean a second floor dryer vent, which ended up involving removing a nest and repairing the roof cap. This drove the cost a little higher than the estimate I was given on the phone, but I expected this since I was pretty sure there were birds in there.
The third visit was to clear a sink drain. Paying a full hour minimum fee for a three minute job is never fun, but it is the nature of this business, and I believe their rates are reasonable and comparable to others in the area.
Most recently, we called for an emergency sump pump repair. From the time we called to the time the guy left our house with our new unit installed was about 40 minutes, maybe less. He took time to explain everything, check our drainage outside and he was on his way. The only knock I give this visit, was that he took my check (very reasonable for prompt emergency service after 5pm) but didn't leave an invoice. I'm sure he had other basements to rescue that day in the torrential down pour, and maybe they will send me the invoice in the mail, but it's just a note.
"In response to Mr.[member name removed] comments about me and my company. I should have given him a written estimate for the one job, which was the removal and installation of a new sump pit because the old one had rotted away and floated. But I assure you the verbal quote was not $450 it was $850 as I personally had done the same job 4 months earlier for a different customer for $850. Now as for his 2nd issue I could not give him a written estimate because his sediment problem in his water ( which 2 other plumbers had tried to resolve) was going to be a time and material job because he had a SERIOUS sediment issue, after spending about 2 hours looking at options to take care of the problem I concluded that a sediment pump was the way to go and told him the cost of the pump was about $400. he asked me what the cost of the job would be and I told him I would be as fair as possible as I did not want to overcharge him or cut myself short. the total for the pump with material plus 5 hours labor came to $875. As to not giving him any paper work on the pump I gave him the one sheet of paper that came with it and I DID explain the operation of how it was set up and how often it would backwash and why I set it to back wash that frequently. And as for not standing behind my work that has never been the case for my jobs but I'm sure he felt that way because yes I was rude on the phone to him and for that I greatly apologize that I let my emotions get the best of me, as a business owner and as a person I should not have let that happen.
