I called answering service Saturday & left message to be on their schedule for following Tuesday. Frank called very shortly after & asked for picture of problem by text. Dan arrived on time Tuesday morning and was friendly & professional. Fixed leak, replaced valve, left the area clean and charged a reasonable price. I will call Corks again.

It went great as they came out very quickly both times. In fact the second time I called on the Friday for them to come out on Monday. The answering service call was not picked right away, so when I followed up Monday morning, they were still able to service me that day. It was greatly appreciated.

I called the company about 2:30 and was told someone would stop by at 4:00. At 4:00 he showed up and started work on

the drain. At 5:30 the drain was clear.

When installing the sump pump and battery back-up, they gave us a range of options to meet our needs, based on our house location (bottom of a hill), our prior experience (the and quot;other guys'and quot; 2x failed pumps--and flooded basement), and our budget. Who knew there was more than one option out there?! Now October, the pump and system are working great. They were always responsive and efficient with time--came as scheduled or within 30 minutes the day of the sump pump fail. It's hard to spend money in stressful scenarios, but it seems Frank understands this and takes the time to explain what you're getting.

I guess we were putting too much garbage down the garbage disposal and so the sink would clog up. They would come by and have it unclogged in fifteen minutes or so. The builder recommended this company to us as they were part of the construction process; so they are really familiar with the plumbing in our house, which helps. I will continue to call them if we have a problem.

  • I have used Corks on four separate occasions in the past 18 months. 3 different technicians were all prompt and courteous.
  1. The first visit was to clean a second floor dryer vent, which ended up involving removing a nest and repairing the roof cap. This drove the cost a little higher than the estimate I was given on the phone, but I expected this since I was pretty sure there were birds in there.
The second visit was a long over due furnace tune up. It took a little longer than I expected, but the price was right and the unit definitely ran better when all was said and done.

The third visit was to clear a sink drain. Paying a full hour minimum fee for a three minute job is never fun, but it is the nature of this business, and I believe their rates are reasonable and comparable to others in the area.
Most recently, we called for an emergency sump pump repair. From the time we called to the time the guy left our house with our new unit installed was about 40 minutes, maybe less. He took time to explain everything, check our drainage outside and he was on his way. The only knock I give this visit, was that he took my check (very reasonable for prompt emergency service after 5pm) but didn't leave an invoice. I'm sure he had other basements to rescue that day in the torrential down pour, and maybe they will send me the invoice in the mail, but it's just a note.

backup paperwork of the materials installed so that I could see the cost. When I attempted to pay him he said the bill would be mailed to me. Sure enough I received the bill a week later and was shocked. From the original estimate of $850. the final bill came to $1680.I called him to discuss this and he was irate. He wouldn't even let me speak. I tried to tell him that at every step of the way I wrote down everything he told me and quoted me so there would be no misunderstanding. He denied everything and called me a liar.He then threatened to "rip out everything he did if I didn't pay him the full amount" and hung up on me.I am not a confrontational person and all I was trying to do was get an understanding of how the amount doubled and he just blew up. If we could have had a mature rational conversation at that point and he could have given me bona fide reasons for the increase I would have trusted what he said and showed me with copies of the material cost.So I am stuck. If I don't pay the full amount he will get a lien against me or get a court to agree to let him remove what he installed. In addition I am sure that he will not respond under warranty should something he did fails even if I pay him the whole amount. All of what I have written is to the best of my recollection and confirmed by the notes I took during our meetings.
Response from Corks Plumbing Heating & Air Conditioning

"In response to Mr.[member name removed] comments about me and my company. I should have given him a written estimate for the one job, which was the removal and installation of a new sump pit because the old one had rotted away and floated. But I assure you the verbal quote was not $450 it was $850 as I personally had done the same job 4 months earlier for a different customer for $850. Now as for his 2nd issue I could not give him a written estimate because his sediment problem in his water ( which 2 other plumbers had tried to resolve) was going to be a time and material job because he had a SERIOUS sediment issue, after spending about 2 hours looking at options to take care of the problem I concluded that a sediment pump was the way to go and told him the cost of the pump was about $400. he asked me what the cost of the job would be and I told him I would be as fair as possible as I did not want to overcharge him or cut myself short. the total for the pump with material plus 5 hours labor came to $875. As to not giving him any paper work on the pump I gave him the one sheet of paper that came with it and I DID explain the operation of how it was set up and how often it would backwash and why I set it to back wash that frequently. And as for not standing behind my work that has never been the case for my jobs but I'm sure he felt that way because yes I was rude on the phone to him and for that I greatly apologize that I let my emotions get the best of me, as a business owner and as a person I should not have let that happen.
