They gave us the best price. They found us a different material for cabinets that was going to work better for us. They had a company stain a door for us because they didn't have the one we wanted at the right price. They went out of their way to get us a sample so we could match the color with a door we could afford. Responsiveness is great, he emails us all the time. So far so good.
Description of Work: They are remodeling our kitchen.

Overall, this was a bad situation from start to finish. This was the first time we had ever contracted a major job and were unaware of how contractors sometimes operate. The incredible length of time it took the crew to complete the 2 bathrooms - over 3 months totally - was ridiculous. But this contractor was working his other jobs at the SAME time, so he had the crew work an hour or 2 at each job. If the contractor had even worked a full 4 hours a day on our job, and 4 hours on another, he'd have gotten finished with both jobs much faster. Our was a small job to start with, which could have been completed in less than 2 weeks full time.He used inferior materials in the sinks and the bathroom fans. One fan broke down in less than 3 months. We called to have him replace it. He replaced the housing. In the intervening time, we have replaced those fans 3 times because of the flimsy plastic covers, although once was our fault when we were cleaning it and it broke. The bathroom sinks started chipping and getting gashes whenever something sharp fell into them, like tweezers or nail clippers. There are gauges all over the interior of both sinks from normal use - we're not washing dishes or knives in the sinks!! But both sinks are some kind of plastic rather than the marble we requested. No description of the sink is given in the contractors estimate, so we don't know what the material is or what the sinks are actually made of.One minor detail that became more significant was the white grout used on the floor tile. The contractor did ask me what color to use. I hadn't thought about this and just replied "white", same color as the tile. Unfortunately, the white grout between the tiles on the floor shows every single piece of dirt or fiber that lands on it, AND within 6 months the grout on the floor had turned just plain dirty-looking. Apparently it had not been sealed. The grout picked up the color fibers from the red floor mats I used and it looked reddish-brown between the white tiles. NO AMOUNT of scrubbing with bleach, tile cleaners, brushes or scrubbers can get the grout clean. It will have to be re-grouted and then sealed to look clean again. The best part of the whole 2 bathroom remodeling was that the contractor installed Toto brand toilets. They are good quality. We realize we should have addressed these issues before, but our repeated calls to the contractor were met with his request to be paid additionally. We believe over $13,000 should have produced a much more quality result, especially in view of the length of time we were patient with the contractor.
Description of Work: This report should have been submitted years ago. Our fault, the homewowners, for taking so long to detail the problems. We contracted with this company in June 2006 to completely remodel 2 bathrooms: new tile on the floors and shower walls: new bath tubs; marble sinks & counter tops; cabinets with lights above; toilets; and a window in one bathroom needed to be updated. Also all fixtures were to be replaced with new fixtures, new overhead fans, plus new sheet rock on the walls. Walls and ceiling to be painted. As the work started, the workmen were only working 1-3 hours in a day, 2 or maybe 3 days a week. Some days they didn't show up at all, and on the days they did, they only worked for sometimes as little as an hour and then left. When they started tiling the shower, they only did a small area of the wall and then left. That was GOOD, because I had specified that the tile be laid in a diagonal pattern in both showers, and they were putting it in the standard square pattern. I asked them to remove the small patch they had done and put it all in the diagonal pattern; they were reluctant to do this and suggested reducing the cost of the tile installation a little to compensate for the square pattern. I declined and asked them to do it in the diagonal pattern as originally specified.Weeks passed and little progress was being made; we requested they work on the bathrooms full time and asked when they expected to be done. We never got a firm end date. We had to ask this 3 or 4 times. Finally, after 3 months of using only one bath tub, we insisted they finish the job.

They did an excellent job. We had an issue with a loose board on the back deck and they came right out within the hour after I called and secured it. Their price was fair and reasonable.
Description of Work: This company re-built the 500 square foot back porch. They also did some major work on my front porch, taking out and re-building the columns. They also re-built some doors leading down to the basement.
