Westplex was hired to remove and replace the roof on my 2 story house with architectural, 110 MPH type Shingle. The owner said he stood behind a 5 year workmanship warranty. Duration of work was estimated at 1-2 days at most but actually took 4 days. Weather was not an issue. The tear off was a worrisome experience. Although they placed tarps on the ground to keep the yard from getting contaminated with nails and debris, they did not use enough care in the method they used to get the old material off the roof. There were several times when I thought the Gutters were going to ripped away from the home because there was so much debris piled up at the edge of the roof and they were just pushing it off. In the end that didn't happen but they did manage to crack half a dozen pieces of siding and scuffed twice that many because so much of it was hitting the side of the house on the way down. The screen on the patio door was also ruined/torn. Westplex did offer to repair the siding but at this point we were into day 3 and I just wanted them to finish the roof and leave. As for the scuffs all down the siding, whatever was used to remove those marks has left its own stain. So far I've used a pressure washer with vinyl siding wash and other hand applied chemicals and it still looks blotched. The roof looked acceptable when they were finished but less than 30 days later some wind came through the subdivision ( Westplex told the BBB near hurricane force winds) and several Shingles were blown off the roof from the very top and near the ridge. I called Westplex and spoke with the owner and he said there had been sufficient time and warmth for the Shingles to have sealed and was surprised this had happened. Also said no other customers had called him about wind damage to their homes and he would call the roofers. I did not hear back for a week so I called called back and was told that Westplex was not responsible for the damage and that he had no other customers call him about wind damage to their homes and because the roofers lived so far away they were unwilling to make the trip for the repair. It was evident that Westplex had no interest in standing behind any type of warranty, had no intention in even coming to see the issue first hand and had absolute and total disregard that I was concerned about an approaching snow event and my new roof that his company just installed was now missing Shingles and Tar Paper exposing bare plywood to the elements. Westplex did not investigate this issue at all but in fact just didn't care. In the immediate area, my home was the only roof that lost Shingles during that period. The age of the roofs on the homes surrounding mine varies in age from less than 2 months to 10 years. If these roofs withstood the wind, mine should have as well if the workmanship had been sufficient.
