MHD Builders

I had used MHD in the past for repairs following a storm (small project) and all went well. I asked them to handle a larger project master bath remodel and family room remodel. the quality of the work by the sub contractors was fine but the general contractor seemed to lose interest in the project. at times I felt I was the general - checking on the project every day and when there were correctable mistakes and I called - he seemed annoyed. I also felt there were a number of "upcharges" that I assumed were included in original pricing. their invoice stated floor - they defined it as plywood and laying hardwood or carpet is extra - though we specifically talked about it. He also assumed if I want carpet I would take care of it - that is why he didn't price it.. If I hired a general contractor I assume they find the subcontractors, manage the project and ensure execution is what was agreed upon. Additionally, they removed doors and took them from the premises - when I specifically asked them to store in my garage. I called the day I noticed but was told too late (likely sold or reused) there is another $300 they pocketed at my expense. Not sure if he just didn't listen or it was more convenient not to listen. In the end - they walked away - job not completed (painting, blue tape walk through) and never invoiced for the remaining last installment (minimal) I went out and found a hardwood floor and painter to finish the job (easier then dealing with general contractor).

Going well given weather. Only problem is some of items are under estimated on budget. Otherwise, they are very friendly, easy to work with, excellent quality of workmanship by them and their subcontractors, and very responsive, so far. Need to update when finished with job.
