There were no drawings done for the kitchen layout, just an option to
remove a wall, which we did not ask for. The laundry room/mud room was
poorly planned out. When we confronted him, he said the
washer/dryer/sink would not fit. We literally walked him over to the
space with a tape measure and had to show him it would work. We had
asked for a master bed/bath, what we got was three drawings with a
master bath and an expansion on our existing 2nd bath. We specifically
wanted a 3rd bathroom. None of the drawings reflected that. He seemed
to be adding things to use up our budget in drawings that were not
requested by us, and then when we said we wanted something added he
would make snide comments about the cost.
He got very defensive if we gave ideas. He made fun of me when I said I wanted cabinets to
the ceilings for storage. However, he is very good at stealing your ideas and using them as his own.
He went on to proceed to tell me he showed his "sketches" to a neighbor of ours. I felt that was totally
inappropriate, I do not need our neighbors knowing my business, let
alone anything. He again got very defensive. This was our second
meeting. At the end of our second meeting we were told that if we email
him with questions over the next week asking for feedback, he would not
be available as he had another job. We said okay.
Over two weeks went by, no word. We finally agreed on a Sunday, and he was to
let us know what time as it was his anniversary weekend, and I was
trying to be nice and work around his weekend. He had time to blog on Sunday. Sunday came, it went. We
never heard from him. We called, we emailed, we got a very
unprofessional response that next day that on Sunday he had to charge
his phone and had to be in bed by 8:30pm for an early meeting with a
client on Monday. He "claimed" to have texted me Sat. morning before,
we never received a text. We stayed home all day wondering what
happened to find out he was still out of town through his facebook page.
We terminated this relationship due to the fact that if this
is how they do business before any real work has been started, than what
will the rest of the project be like? This designer has the attitude
that YOU need him, HE clearly does not need you. From what I have now
heard, he blows his clients off a lot.
There are a lot of better, more professional designers out there... this designer also steals your good ideas and pawns them off as his own. Move past this one.
They don't even really have a good portfolio to look at anyway. Not
enough work history. Very disappointed as he has our money, and really
no work was done. We offered to return his few sketches, to no avail.
We have not heard from him since. Not even an apology.
