"[member name removed] Thank you for your comments! We at Dream Kitchens, strive for just such an experience for our clients. It helps when the clients are such a pleasure to work with like you and Janet. We hope you have years of enjoyment in your new 'dream' kitchen and den!"
Rick and Karen were awesome. They came out to our home and took measurements. We met them at their showroom where they presented several options for our kitchen. We chose 1 and they were able to make adjustments right on the spot. Later, Karen came up with computerized sketches of what our kitchen would look like. WE WERE SOLD. The cabinets were ended up choosing were comparable to others we had already priced.
Their construction drawings were easy for our carpenter to follow, and Rick and Karen made regular visits to make sure things were going as planned. On 1 visit we ran across an issue to make the plumbing for washing machine up to code. Rick came up with a brilliant idea which our plumber was able to execute perfectly. Had it not been for Rick, we would have been moving the washer and dryer to the basement!
The work was completed early 2012, as we could not have been happier. The renderings were almost an exact match of finished product. There have been no problems with the cabinets of drawers.
We are now moving onto the bathrooms 2013 which will be starting in 2 weeks....as we are having some major issues. After interviewing 6-7 diff companies including Dreams Kitchen we decided to also hire them to do our Bathrooms. I shouldn't have wasted my time looking for someone else but, we had to interview other people. We are excited once again to be working with them.
His pricing is right in the middle
He stays on budget gets job done on time and is honest and trustworthy. They have awesome ideas. When Bathroom is complete I will leave another review!:)
For months after the install I asked for the above items to be addressed. I kept being told that the owner would call. I received one voicemail in all that time. I should not have to chase them down.
In current communications, they are making up a conversation we supposedly had when they dropped off additional molding (I was not home) that I would take care of the outstanding issues myself. Why would I do that when I paid them to handle the install? At the same time, they are insisting that I never told them about these issues. They keep lying and are trying to deny any accountability. Do not sue this company.
I've opened a BBB case on this issue.
"In this case, the member served as the contractor for this bath remodeling project. She purchased cabinets, faucets, and accessories from Dream Kitchens, including the install of the cabinets only. Demolition, tile work, plumbing, electrical, and painting, was all handled by the member. Until this past month, we had not heard from the member since December, 2009. Last month we contacted the member to remind her of an outstanding balance on those products, that was 18 months overdue. That is the first time a punch list was submitted to our company. Since she contracted the other trades, or did the work herself, it was not unusual for her to handle installing a piece of molding that she asked us to drop off at her house. At this point, it seems that the member's goal is to be credited monies against her balance due. We offered a credit against that balance for the client to hire a carpenter to touch up the bathroom she has been using since June of 2009. She did not respond to that offer. Please read my other Angie's List reviews. Rick Glickman, President Dream Kitchens, Inc."
"Before we address each point we would like to mention that Dream Kitchens is a 17 year old design firm that contracts workman and materials from many vendors and suppliers. We rely on our subs to provide quality materials and workmanship. Sometimes, as in this case, everything does not go as planned. We feel very badly when this happens and do whatever we can to make the situation right. The most important aspect is that we did not walk away from these problems but tried to resolve them to the best of our ability, as we do with all of our clients. We also mailed the member a refund check which included several credits listed below for over $4,700 in March and the client mailed it back with a further payment made out to our company! Example 1: The member had constant contact with the workman as she was living in the home and looking over their shoulder at all times. Had she wanted that room cleared out she could have mentioned it to them since she didn't we thought that it was fine with her. Example 2: These cabinets were ordered correctly but made incorrectly by the manufacturer, as it happens from time to time. If a cabinet is made incorrectly, and the box isn't damaged, it is only natural that the damaged cabinet is discovered when the box is opened by the installer prior to installation. As soon as the problem was discovered we immediately alerted the manufacturer and had it remade. Example 3: All materials were there except certain materials which cannot be ordered prior to installation because they need to be scribed such as custom shower pans, doors, and countertops. Example 4: We submitted the order to our supplier. They did not order the glass that was needed. Once again, not something that Dream Kitchens did incorrectly. However we worked with our supplier until it was done correctly. Example 5: When it was installed it was freezing and during a thaw it was discovered there was a leak. She did not hesitate to call and insisted that our foreman come out on the weekend to fix it. There was not a hole for months. Example 6: This project took longer due to many surprises hidden in walls in this historic property that needed to be addressed and the reorder of incorrectly made materials as indicated in these examples. Example 7: We offered her a credit for painting and included that credit in the check we sent her in March which she returned to us. We always responded to the member as she called daily. Our men went there regularly on weekends, and at night to try and satisfy her. Resolution: We have already sent her money once and she sent it back (maybe so she could ask for it again in public.) Considering the things she has said about our company we can't imagine that she actually wants us to come back into her home to complete any type of punch list at this point."
