My wife and I purchased a coop in downtown Chicago, which required a complete renovation. Our preliminary estimates for architectural services were in the $75,000-$90,000 range. We then called Hunt and Hunt Architects. We hit it off with them right away, and they ended up providing us a complete range of services for less than $10,000. Both of the Hunts were involved in the process, and both were invaluable. They offered us guidance and assistance well beyond the scope of their job description, and were both voices of calm and reason during very stressful times. More than anything, you will find that they are thoughtful in their approach, and you will feel as if they are true partners to you in your process, willing to listen and work hard to accomplish your goals.
We have learned through this and another project that a small minority of professionals and contractors end up being a positive surprise. The Hunts are in that category, and we highly recommend them.
