Hair Salons/Barbers
Frannie's Beauty Salon was recommended to me by my twenty-one year old son. I was searching for a local salon that could install hair extensions for me, at a reasonable price and wanted a stylist with experience, insight and knowledge with regard to hair extensions. My son had instructed me to ask for "Victoria" (unfortunately, I do not recall her last name) and, he noted that she was very good with cuts and styles and, he thought he had heard that she did hair extensions. So, I called on Wednesday morning, spoke with Victoria and she was super nice on the phone. She made a consultation appointment for me that morning and I took the hair extensions with me and, we discussed my hair texture, the quality of the extensions, she asked me what type of look that I was going for and then, did an overview of how to care for them, and gave a guesstimate of 30 minutes for the install and 30 minutes for the cut and style. She was very busy that morning (was impressed that she got me in) and, she asked if I could return at 1:30 p.m. for the installation.
When I returned for the appointment, she was ready for me and was smiling. What I found to be amazing was that when I went initally for my consultation in the morning; I was greeted by at least two hair stylists upon walking in, the owner came up to me and greeted me and the atmosphere was pleasant, upbeat, professional and, the salon had soothing neutral colors. I later found out that they had recently renovated. The salon decor has a spanish european type of theme. Like I said, neutral tans, marble textures and black accents. Also, there were numerous books on hairstyles and, numerous magazines as well. It is always nice to have these items available when waiting.
Back to my review: My stylist, Victoria, was meticulous in taking the time to place every single extension - 20 TOTAL. This involved first placing them where she thought they should go, then combing the hair over the extension, then placing each extension in permanently. This is an art and for it to look great, it needs to be layered in a brick pattern around the head. (I don't know the technical aspects per se). After the extensions were in, she rechecked the adhesive and location(s), had me feel as well, then we discussed the type of cut I wanted and how I would like them styled. Using a straight razor she cut layers to blend with my natural hair, and then she tipped the ends with scissors to give it a modern look. Then proceeded to style the extensions and discussed the maintenance and care of extensions. I was absolutely pleased with the service I received.
On Thursday morning, I called again and asked for another appointment to have additional length cut off and more layers. Again, she made me an appointment for that morning and did more shaping. Honestly, I left there feeling like a princess for the day. I felt pampered and loved the upbeat personalities of the stylists and was astounded at times by the talent of the owner, Frannie. I set next to her station and watched her transform hair. I asked how long she had been doing it and she said in the early 70's she opened her first salon!
To anyone that is reading this review I would say, if you are looking to get hair extensions - definitely, DEFINITELY, give Frannie's a try. I plan on being a lifetime client. Lastly, there was no rush to get you in and out. That was the best feeling in the word, I got personal attention, a meticulous stylist with a great personality and felt very comfortable in the atmosphere.
I also found it to be affordable.
