I purchased the electronic lift chair in Dec. 2008. It malfunctioned in May 2010, my chair malfunctioned and required parts. For some reason customer service did not process my request for 5-6 days .They said the parts were not available and backordered. Fortunately, I was able to get in touch with their Parts Department in Tennessee my self even though customer service said they didn't know how to contact them. The helpful technician was able to diagnose the problem and said they had the part and would ship it once they received the e-mail from customer service. I offered to pay to next day delivery as I have medical reasons for the purchase of the chair. But he said that was not possible, via company policy.Once I received the parts, I called La-Z-Boy's third party who does the installation at a cost of about $60. That tooks another few days before the job was complete. The chair malfunctioned four months later on Sept. 11, 2010. I called the customer service department again and was told the parts were not available and that parts were being shipped from China Sept. 14. But those parts were promised to customers ahead of me and they would have to order my parts from China! tomorrow. She said she wasn?t sure if I would receive my parts in a timely manner as there were others ahead of me. I asked why aren?t the company did not keep an inventory of the needed parts since the product is often sold is to people with health problems. The customer service manager wasn't able to give a response. My complaint is that the company does not maintain inventory and customers have to wait days, weeks, or even months before the parts are delivered. You can?t make an appointment with the La_Z-Boy installer until the parts are received. I have complained and they have been unresponsive. on Sept. 13 I e-mailed my complaint to Kurt Darrow who is listed as president and chief executive officer of the La-Z-Boy corporation listed on the NYSE. UPDATE 1/24/2011 These problems were resolved after I contacted the La-Z-Boy corporation's headquarters in Michigan. I spoke with the chairman, Mr. Daryl, who had workers back out to my house for a new upgraded chair lift at no charge. I even had a problem with the wand as well, but they came back out to fix that. Mr. Daryl was so impressed by my letter and my suggestions that he sent it out to all the La-Z-Boy stores so that they will consider them for future installs.
Description of Work: I bought an electronic lift chair, to keep my leg elevated for medical reasons.
