I have used Ernie Peterson several times for plumbing issues. This was for a basement drain backing up. They came out the same day and had a flat fee for the first hour. The plumber was polite and professional. I will use Ernie Peterson and recommend them.

Had several plumbers come out to give an estimate on a major plumbing problem. All gave us an estimate with no charge. Ernie Peterson came out, never gave us an estimate but charged $135 for a service call. When we called and asked for the estimate, it was never given but was told we must pay the bill. They did say they called with questions and we did not call back. We never got a call and couldn't get the questions when we called and questioned the bill. $135 to come out and not do what was requested or any work at all is crazy.
Response from Ernie Peterson Plumbing
"Home owner originally called this in as a service call. NOT an Estimate. We tried several times to contact them to make an appointment for an estimate with no response. The customer was in fact refunded the service fee"

Since 1997 I have used Ernie Peterson Plumbing several times at the various houses I have lived at. Over those years they have rated five stars in my book, until yesterday. I called them out to rod out the floor drain in my basement, which they had done for me three times in the past nine years. It was last done in 2014 at a cost of $187 for 90 minutes. Yesterday it cost $387 for 90 minutes! I called to inquire if I was charged correctly and was told floor rodding costs $295 for the first hour and $135 an hour after that. A $200 price jump in three years seems a little excessive. Shame on me for not asking how much it cost beforehand, but having dealt with them for so long, I assumed it would be the same price, or close to the same price, as in the past. I may use them again in the future, but I'll now be calling others to price compare first. No more calling them and just telling them to come out and do it.

Ernie Peterson Plumbing company has the best of the best plumbers in the area. As always, they are very competent and thorough and do excellent work. We were getting our house ready to sell, and they worked around our crazy schedule and completed the job as promised. Keith and Steve, you guys Rock!!

Here, I am going to do something that I generally refrain from doing, but in this instance, I feel compelled to emphasize the importance of vetting any service provider and this is why Angie's List is such a great value.
Prior to requesting Peterson's service, I scheduled an appointment with Watertight Plumbers from a neighboring town to simply identify the source of the problem and recommend repairs needed to fix the leak. Their employee showed up on time, but didn't bother to bring a flashlight and/or flush the toilet to see what may have been the most obvious reason causing the tiles to loosen and fall off the wall. The wall wood plate below the hung toilet was exposed and sponge-wet moist. Instead, and deficient of any reasoning skills, the knucklehead from This outfit suggested the man of the house (me) be more careful aiming (as this could cause the damage), or another problem is that toilets on occasion will sweat and this moisture can cause water damage. First, I'm certain it would take a bladder of enormous proportions over a very long uninterrupted flow to find its way past the wall flange and seal (like a flooded bathroom on the second floor has to be a Noah's Arch phenomenon.. NOT likely), and there is absolutely NO CHANCE a toilet (not even a public park's outdoor restroom facility) sweated to that extreme in the darn near 50 degrees cool mid summer months we experienced here this year! Knucklehead left me with a $45.00 service charge and no idea what was causing the problem. I didn't bother any further with this lackluster company, and called Peterson Plumbing.
Now, two months afterwards, I received a Thank You card and called attempting to speak with the Watertight owner and report the poor service I received.. Denied!! Instead, the service manager contacted me. When I explained why I wanted to speak with the owner, she was rude, ranted and argued. At this point, I suggested reimbursement is appropriate, so she raised her voice and talked over me while denying to reimburse the service call charge since I didn't give them a second chance to send "a more qualified plumber". (REALLY.?) In The End (pun intended), yes, they declined reimbursement even after I mentioned a poor review would definitely be posted here. I tried to get her to understand the measly 45 bucks wasn't my real concern, but rather their lousy customer service and financial impact from negative feedback should be avoided at any cost. (I gave the owner till the end of the day to reach out to me and see if there was anything we could reconcile. And now you know why I've written this post about the significance of diligent vetting.)

Answered our phone call professionally. Called before arrival. Arrived promptly. Wore paper booties on feet. Fixed disposal easily and quickly. Showed me how to resolve the problem myself next time to avoid any unnecessary expense or waiting. Very polite, friendly, professional. Could have told me I needed a new disposal, but was honest and super helpful.

I had smelled gas in my home during the power outage. I had called the gas company who found 3 leaks and the valve to my water heater broken and leaking. I have a home warranty that was unable to find a plumber in our area. After 3 days on no results from my home warranty. I called and Steve arrived within 10 minutes. He was wonderful. He fixed the leaks in the basement pipes, replaced the water heater valve, and fixed the stove leak. He then even called my home warranty to get it approved for me so that I could be reimbursed. I will definitely use them again.

They are always prompt and always show up when they say they would. If they cannot show up somebody would always call us and let us know what is going on. They take care of all my plumbing needs. They have always done a good job, but they are a little pricey.

Very prompt. Steve the plumber did all the work and then advised me of a correction that could be made to a wobbly toilet. While this is a well-respected commercial plumbing company, they do have a residential component. I have used them for 5 years. Their service and quality cannot be beat. It is a very dependable company that I would highly recommend.

It was very easy to make an appointment with Ernie Peterson - they were flexible. The plumber who showed up was knowledgeable, on time, polite, and quick. All he had to do was run a straight gas line through the exposed ceiling in the basement and bring it up into the kitchen through where the electrical service used to be for the old stove, so it was a fairly easy job but he did it well. The price seemed a little bit high for the small amount of work done, but it was good quality so I would recommend them and use them again.

No additional comments. The overall quality job was excellent. After I looked I felt he should have anticipated some complications that occurred.

I've used Ernie Peterson's plumbing three times. The first was for a sump pump problem. The first plumber they sent for that, thought he fixed it, but it started leaking again. They sent another one immediately who did fix it, and did not charge for a service call. I also had them install a garbage disposal and repair an outside water line. They are honest, efficient and competent.
