That was two furnaces and an air conditioner, 97% efficient furnace, 2 stage, sixteen sear, two ton air conditioner, and then another 80% for the addition. they showed up, did what they were suppose to do. They showed up, they were super nice, they certainly cared about how I thought about things. They always showed up when they said they would show up.

Awful! It was under 20 degrees F and he condemned my old furnace (he disabled it to remove from service) stating that it was a life and death safety hazard. I could not see the cracks when he showed me the exchanger which was still inside the unit which could only be seen using a flashlight at a severe viewing angle. So I trusted him that they were there knowing the age of my furnace was over 20 years. In desperation, I let him sell me a new furnace because we were forecasted to have prolonged and unseasonably frigid weather for early December. For two days I had to live in the basement off the heat of a wood stove as I waited for him to install the new unit (it was over the weekend and I could not get another estimate from a contractor before I would have frozen to death!) The proper size furnace model that I selected naturally was not in stock so he recommended that I buy the next larger model which was oversize for my vents. He did not tell me there could be problems by installing an oversize unit, but being desperate for heat, I did not research the matter myself and I said to proceed. I wouldn't have agreed if I had been adequately informed about system performance issues and that "bigger is not better". They also informed me that they would have to replace the sheet metal ducts at the furnace and would need to take out the air conditioner coils, rendering my AC useless the following hot and humid summer until I could afford to buy a new one the subsequent spring. In draining the old hot water heater to replace it, water dribbled backwards behind the unit because the concrete floor is not level under the water heater. It found its way under the partition wall to the rec room, leaving a puddle in the corner and saturating the carpeting. Aware of the problem, they did nothing effective or appropriate to clean it up, only threw my good bath towels on the floor when I had rags and a wet shop vac available in the utility room where the water heater and furnace were. Shouldn't they bring these materials and equipment themselves anyways? They also did a unacceptable job when grouting around the new furnace flue pipe where it goes into the chimney - the mortar was just globbed on without proper forming and finishing. Four years later, chunks of mortar are still popping off the chimney wall onto the foundation wall sill. I later hired a competitor (rated highly on Angie's List) to come in eventually and replace the air conditioning coils and compressor. They informed me that the furnace blower was far too large for my home and duct sizes and wondered why on earth anyone would purposely install such an oversize unit because of air flow balance issues. This is why I heard the vents and damper banging and popping. They adjusted the blower speed on the furnace to the lowest setting for me which alleviated most of the noises. JM did not come off looking professional or even competent. It was like a novice came in my home without any professional experience. This report is long overdue to be posted by me and I wish I had gotten it done a long time ago. They seemed like very nice, honest people so I wrestled with writing this critical review of their services. Admittedly, I should have contacted them and argued for a refund for faulty work but I had a grave family emergency that diverted my attention from this bad experience. I would hope in the years that passed since this fiasco that JM Heating & Cooling hired more competent, experienced labor to do the work, but I personally wouldn't take my chances with them again and will stick to the professional, respected company that I found on Angie's List and I finally hired for the air conditioning replacement!

JM Heating & Cooling did the original installation of the unit, so I continue to use their service. They always call to remind me when it is time to be inspected again. They are reasonable, knowledgeable, and friendly. I am pleased with their service.

My experience with JM Heating and Cooling was outstanding. From Kathy in the office, who worked with me to find an affordable, reliable system and patiently answered all my questions (again and again), to John and his crew who installed the system, showed me how it operates and cleaned up after themselves, I couldn't have asked for better service. When a grocery order was delivered earlier than planned (and when I was out of the house.) John even placed the items in my refrigerator and freezer so they would not spoil. Truly above and beyond what was expected. I will use them in the future for all my heating and cooling service. I confidently recommend them.

When I first called, Kathy was very friendly and very professional. She gave me a realistic time range and told me who would be coming to the house. As a single woman, this is important. After my experience, I have absolute confidence in the owners/operators of this company. With the type of problem my furnace had, it would have been so easy for me to get ripped off, but this was ABSOLUTELY NOT THE CASE! I called Kathy as a follow-up to thank her for the speed and reliability in which everything was handled. She provided more information. These are wonderful people and I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND them to anyone.

We had a wonderful experience with John and Kathy. The first date he was scheduled to come out, the temperature was too low to run the air conditioner. The appointment was rescheduled for later the same week. John arrived on time and was very courteous and professional. He found that we were low on freon which might have been due to the previous HVAC contractor not closing the seal tightly. John inspected the system, as well as the furnace. His inspections were far more thorough than any other we've had in the 4 years we've owned our home! Fortunately, no other issues were found. We would definitely use JM again and would highly recommend them!

FAMILY COMPANY. KATHY RUNS THE OFFICE AND IS VERY COURTEOUS, FRIENDLY, PROMPT, AND KNOWLEDGEABLE. HER HUSBAND JOHN IS THE INSTALLER, ALONG WITH A SMALL CREW. VERY NICE PEOPLE, HONEST, FAIR AND RESPONSIVE. PRICEWISE WERE VERY COMPETITIVE, AND BELOW THE HIGH END QUOTES I RECEIVED. I HAD ESTIMATES FROM FIVE COMPANIES AND WAS MOST COMFORTABLE WITH JOHN AND KATHY. THE SHOWED UP AS SCHEDULED EACH DAY AND COMPLETED THE WORK IN A TIMELY MANNER. THEIR ONLY AREA FOR IMPROVEMENT IS THAT THE COULD BE A LITTLE NEATER AND BETTER WITH CLEAN UP. A FEW FINGER MARKS WERE LEFT ON WALLS AND SOME DRY WALL DUST REMAINED IN A FEW SPOTS.
