NECEK CONSTRUCTION

This involved some precision use of a router, gluing replacement wood, and meticulous sanding, both on the doors and the door frames. I was concerned about dust from old doors frames with lead paint, especially with a new born baby. The doors could be taken outside or in the garage, but the door frames could not. Dennis used a combination of masking off with plastic and gentle tape, affixing wet towels to catch wood chips and dust, and running a ShopVac to catch as much debris while cutting or sanding. He made no appreciable dust. After closing up the old holes in the wood, Dennis re-bored and re-mortised for the new locks and plates. He built this really cool jig to use with the router so all the plates fit like from a factory. The price was ridiculously cheap for the amount of work he did, as always. He is a very nice guy and knows almost everything about construction. He is very productive and will often work 12+ hour days. On the flip side, he is often 10 or 15 minutes late, but rarely more than this, and he always shows up. I would highly recommend.

Zdenek came to the house and took necessary measurement and discussed with us our options for size and placement of the skylight, types of vents available and the styles and value of different types of shingles. He warned us that until the existing roof was removed, he would not be able to give a firm quote: depending on the condition of the underlying wood, he might need to add a layer of plywood. He and his crew removed the three layers of existing shingles and then determined that a layer of plywood was necessary. They immediately bought the plywood and installed it quickly. They then installed the skylight and vents and put on the shingles and new gutters. Subsequent small problems with the gutters were fixed very quickly. Despite being a very hot weekend, Zdenek and his crew worked long hours and accomplished the whole job (from removal of old shingles to final gutter installation) in just three days and maintained their cheerful attitude through the whole thing.
