They were wonderful to work with overall! The designer understood my budgetary limitations and was able to get done what I needed to have done. They did a terrific job and I can’t speak highly enough of them. They're not cheap, but their work is wonderful. I would hire them again in a minute to do more work!

1/4 of the way into the job, we received a change order bill for $1,500 for a countertop quoted to cost $4,100. His designer said that this was due to a change in the design; later admitting the error was hers and not ours. She threatened to put the project on hold if we did not t pay. We paid the $1,500 and requested an itemized bill and were surprised by an additional bill of $13,752. Now we are told they charge for travel to and from home. 3 workers, worked an average of 4 hrs/day and we were expected to pay all 3, for 8-9 hrs/day of work (despite parking being limited to 6.5 hrs/day). We were charged $1,667 for 2.5 hours of simple electrical work; $1,546 plumbing for sink/faucet install; $1,170 to replace 5 tiles; $2,682 for materials and misc with no details; when we told Karlson that this extra $13,752 was excessive and unjustified and tried to negotiate, he stopped the job and refused to complete any work until he received a check for $13,752 (in excess of the $25,000 paid).

Honestly, I was a little displeased with the time it took to get this done and I also felt that they were not as professional as they could have been for the price that we paid. The kitchen does look excellent but they had told me that it would be done by Thanksgiving and it wasn't completed until February. This was very inconvenient for my family. If I were to do it again, I might hire someone else.

Their quality is good, but they pad the bill by adding more specialized laborers than needed for the job. For example, to replace two 8 ft x 3 ft cabinet panels, they had a foreman, a carpenter, and an apprentice for that small job. If you don't have time to pay attention and ask the extra men to leave the job, they bill you for their time as well, so you're paying 3 men for a 1 man job. They also billed me for excessive driving time. Their contract is open ended and allows for them to charge freely and without regard to the consumer because they provide no fixed bids. We parted on unfriendly terms because I felt he cheated me and I would not use them again. He over padded the bill.
