They did a great job! Kevin, the foreman, really went above & beyond expectations. Dan found ways save us money by repairing and repainting shutters that we would have otherwise replaced. Gave us a lot of help picking colors and didn't complain when we changed our choices at a very late point. Dan's estimate was significantly less that other quotes and the final invoice was several hundred dollars under the quote!

In a word, fabulous.  Dan came out to our home to give us an estimate in March for work we wanted to start in June.  He was perfectly fine with that and we kept in correspondence over the three months.  I also contacted other painting companies but Dan's estimate and reading Angie's List plus general word of mouth gave me the confidence that we would be happy with his work.  Indeed we were.  The crew was punctual and professional.  They left the house clean after a day of painting.  It took 4 days to complete the work.  They did all the heavy lifting and beforehand Dan explained what we needed to do to ensure this would be a smooth process with furniture etc.  Their work is beautiful.  No brush marks etc.  After the job was finished there were a couple of touch up areas that needed to be addressed.   Dan came back and touched up the few things that needed to be finished.   He also did not want us to pay him a dime until everything was perfect.
We also did not have to worry about  picking up the paint . That was done for us.
His estimate was high and we were delighted to find out the actual job was much less than we anticipated. 
I will definitely call Dan the next time we are ready to paint the house again.  Next year the upstairs!

Very professional.

We dealt with Mark Monckton of Dan Moncton, Inc. After he came to see the job, he provided an estimate in a couple of days. His painters, Sam and Pfon, did a meticulous job of preparation work, sanding and repairing problem areas. They were very careful with their painting also, and helpful with suggestions and doing little extra's, like painting heat vents to match. Both were very polite, on time, and cleaned up afterwards. They were also careful to ask questions to be sure they were doing what I wanted.
Mark had come the week before to remove kitchen wallpaper so that we could have the backsplash tiled before the painting work began. The painting took about 4 1/2 consecutive days. The price was for labor only, as I preferred to buy the paint myself.

Mark and his crew are terrific.  They arrived on-time and didn't quit until everything was done right.  They found ways to save me money by repairing  several areas along the wood porch railing that would otherwise have required a carpenter.  First they scraped out all of the rotten wood and treated the opening with a special product that kills the bacteria that causes the wood to rot, After that cured (which also firmed up the wood and provided a bond) they filled the holes and then sanded, primed and painted.  What a difference hiring people who know their job.  This could easily have cost me twice what I paid Monckton.
And the inside work was perfect too.  Painting ceilings is never fun and always hard to do.  They left not one brush or roller mark...the kitchen looks like a new ceiling.  And the bathrooms have a fresh look that didn't cost an arm and a leg.
I have hired Monckton before and have always been treated fairly.  They must have a large following because sometimes I have to wait a few weeks for them, but when they come to the job they work hard, work fast, work carefully and their invoice always seems to come in less than I expected it to be.  I believe you don't hire painters based on price.  There must be cheaper guys out there looking for business, but Monckton does more than you'd expect and always has charged me fairly.

Dan Monckton Inc. was terrific. I like the quality of their work, their professionalism and their personality.

He has done the outside of my house every 5 or 6 years for the last several. The price was reasonable. He is very pleasant to work with. They brought things to my attention that we didn't even see on the first look, which I greatly appreciated. We had some rotting wood that wasn't even noticed in the beginning and they found it and helped us deal with it. They were very attention. They got the job done in an absolute reasonable amount of time. I would absolutely call them again. They are going to line item things on the quote because I'm not sure what I'm going to do. We did not get estimates the last time or two for the exterior because we were so happy with the work. We have gotten another estimate for the interior work. He was right on time yesterday for the estimate.

Very good experience.  Dan was quick to come out and give us a quote for the work.  The quote was good and fair.  Once we approved the quote we were placed on the calendar quickly.  The work was completed in the amount of time Dan quoted for the price he quoted.  The painters were professional and cleaned up after themselves.  
We will use them again in the future.

His estimate was in the middle from others I got, and since I had used his company before and knew their work (excellent), I decided to go with him. The painters -- from Cambodia -- are really great. They were great. They gave me types of contracts, so that I can see exactly what they were doing. We had a carpenter working with them as well because we had to do some restoration work on our bungalow. They did a great job. The bead board looks beautiful. The main carpenter guy was here. When we called him, he would come by. They stripped the soffit off the old aluminum, so he could see how everything was going even though the roofers were working at that time and it wasn’t time for him to come in and do his part. They were very good, very reliable, and very professional. I really like these guys.

We had a display stand that we had fabricated from angle-iron. Monckton Painting sanded and cleaned the surface, primed and painted it with two coats of paint. The finish is flawless; a beautiful job. This is just typical of the quality workmanship that we always get from them. We will continue to us Dan Monckton and his crew of fine painters...and their price is always very reasonable. Most of the time we use them for interior painting but this job shows how versitile they are.

Fabulous. I received a prompt visit for an estimate and I received the estimate the next day. It was substantially less than my other two bidders (also highly rated on Angie's List). I was able to schedule the painters immediately after making my decision and they were meticulous. In addition to being highly skilled painters (using both a spray process for the woodwork and a traditional roller process for the walls/ceiling), I found them friendly, careful, anxious to please and absolutely attentive to detail -- real pros. At the time of booking, I had assumed that they wouldn't be able to start until after an imminent trip out of town so I booked them anyway. After a day with them, I felt entirely comfortable giving them the key to work in my absence (and that worked out great). The woodwork is gorgeous and so is the rest of the room. Interestingly, I had recommended this company to a friend (not an Angie's List member) on the basis of the Angie's List ratings and before I hired them for my own job. Both my job and my friend's job (painting the exterior of her house) occurred during the same week. That exterior job is also terrific and my friend was very pleased.

Good value, but not very responsive and hard to get direct contact, but job was performed well at a good price.

The crew worked carefully and did an excellent job. When some window carpentry was needed, Dan arranged for that to be handled by another contractor who also did an excellent job. We were very satisfied with all the work.

They were on time and on schedule, painters were very professional and did an outstanding job. A+.

I called for an estimate and received a prompt response. I had a special request in that I wanted them to use a product that had been used before on the deck. After looking into it, they agreed to do this. Other companies would not do this. (We had had a bad experience with a different product, and felt more comfortable using this product since it had worked before.) They did the work as soon as weather allowed. They did a nice job and the deck still looks good after a year. Original quote was $580 but they took $58 off for a coupon I had from your Newsletter.

He must have received the message, because he called and left a message for me. On it, he was very condescending toward me, and he said he would be out on Sept 13th, 14th, and the 17th to inspect the property, perform the preliminary power wash, and staining later. I took off work, had my son take off work to pick up items to make it easier for Dan Monkton, and then I waited. I waited for all three days, and did not receive a phone call, nor did anyone come out on the agreed upon dates. Dan Monckton has been totally, 100% unresponsive, abysmal customer service, awful follow-up, condescending, and the worst experience I have had with a contractor. I was appalled by my experience with him, especially considering he was so highly rated on Angie's List. Even more, common courtesy dictates that one calls and responds to a potential customer to whom a personal commitment has been made. My entire summer has been wasted, and I must now wait til the next.

Called and got estimate in several weeks. Took over 2 months and several emails and calls after accepting contract to get the work done. The crew is great, the work great, but they are so busy (so they say). Their communications is poor at time (had to wait a week for a return call on an email I sent). We have had the exterior painted by them earlier in the year. They do great work and clean up after themselves, but getting the job scheduled has been a chore at times.

Communications with company were excellent. Someone always answered the phone when I called. Received quote in writing quickly. I switched the paint color between returning the contract and having the work done--it was not a problem. Painter was unable to finish job in one day (due to humidity outside), but returned next business day to finish. Highly positive experience. Did have to wait several weeks to have the work scheduled (company was booked) but was told that up front.

We ordered an estimate and they respond with a day or two with a written estimate. We had several other estimates and decided to go with them. We scheduled the work for about 2-3 weeks out, due to other work. On the week they were to start, they said Thursday late they would be by. Thursday they called and said it would be changed to Friday. On Friday they called, apologized and stated it would be Monday of the next week, for sure (weather does cause exterior painting problems). Monday they came as scheduled and power washed the exterior. Tuesday they started painting and Wednesday they finished, right on the money. They had to do 2 coats on the exterior doors, but did not charge any additional money for that work. They left the site clean and finished.
