I was favorably impressed with the estimate process and initial loading of our property: it appeared that appropriate care was given to protect furniture and equipment as it was loaded. When our property was delivered after a brief period in storage, it was clear that the initial protection was not preserved. Damage showed that things were not handled carefully; those inflicting the scarring could not have been unaware that they were doing damage. Other material was forced inside furniture in ways that damaged both. Over the two weeks since receiving our goods, we continue to find wooden furniture that was incompetently "repaired" with nails to make the damage less immediately obvious. I get that some damage is likely. What is unacceptable is that the attitude toward our property was somewhere between careless and contemptuous.

Packing done very professionally and carefully. Packers/movers were very polite. However, although we received our goods within the quoted delivery window we were first assigned a very early delivery slot (which we were looking forward to) which then had to be moved back. Nevertheless the level of professionalism and care that was taken for our goods (despite this being a smaller move) was very high.

I had to be out of my house in IL before I had found a place in VT, which meant I had to store my belongings for 3 months before the final move-in. Beltmann handled all aspects of the packing, loading, storage, and delivery. The moving consultant, Jennifer Smith, was excellent and made sure I had all the necessary information and understood all aspects of the moving process. I interacted with the moving coordinator, Carmen Carter, mostly by e-mail. Her responses to my queries were prompt and helpful. The packing and loading went OK. Some of the crew were inexperienced, and I had to keep an eye on them to be sure everything was inventoried and tagged correctly. The two-man team who delivered my goods in VT (Norman and "Hoop") were excellent. They handled things carefully and put them right where I wanted. My things arrived in overall good condition. There were a few small nicks and scratches on some of the furniture. A few cheap and inconsequential plastic items were broken. Only one item was missing: a plastic floor protector for my office chair. Given the number of times my shipment had to be moved about (in and out of storage, and being reloaded onto smaller trucks for delivery because the van was too big to bring into town), I was impressed with how little damage and loss there was. There was one error in billing after I was moved in. I received a bill for services I had already paid for. I contacted Carmen and the error was quickly corrected. Overall, I was very pleased with how well Beltmann handled a complex move. By the way, some friends of mine used Beltmann for a local move in the Chicago area the same summer that I was moving, and they were also very happy with them.

Overall I had a few things broken and something was stolen. They do have a claims process which has been a nightmare even though I had insurance. They had broken an armour.

They organized it well, told us exactly how much everything would cost, came on time, and didn’t break anything.

They didn't deliver on the date they said they were going do, they damaged a dining room table by placing a metal filing cabinet on it.  Most importantly, they transferred the materials three times before actually delivering it and when we finally got it, it wasn't on the equipment they said they would use.  The people who unloaded everything, damaged the walls of my new home, and only now, 30 days later, are they actually doing anything about it.

I used Beltmann to move my household goods across country (from Chicago to DC). They were fine in Chicago with taking my goods into the truck but I didn't know what was going on with the actually loading of the truck. They also said they would deliver my goods on two days (the next week) but they were a week late because they did not have a driver for their truck. I believe this is unprofessional to say that they can deliver on a specific date knowing that they don't even have a truck driver or movers. My household goods were a week late. I had to miss the first day of my new job so I could supervise the unloading of the truck. Once the goods arrived there were things that were missing and many boxes were crushed. It looked like things had been thrown around. They didn't even inform the movers that my goods were going to two places even though it was stated on the invoice. They also didn't split my goods by where they were going (there were two stops. (storage unit and apartment)). All the boxes were mixed up which made the movers on the Virginia side have to unload the truck at the storage unit and separate the goods so that they could go to the storage unit and the others to the apartment. This resulted in the move taking from 8:30 in the morning to 1:30 am the next day. This was ridiculous. In addition, they didn't follow my instructions about creating a parts box so I could put my select comfort bed together when I arrived. They didn't do this and my pump and remote were missing from the shipment so I have no bed. They also lost one of the slats for my bed. Now I have to wait around for them to send someone out and assess whether they can fix the bed (which they can't). Don't use this company. The move was a nightmare and they were so unresponsive about keeping me informed with what was going on. They had no consideration for my needs. There are so many boxes that are crushed that I fear how may other things are damaged.

It was a nightmare! I should have canceled them when they did not show up to pack my house when scheduled in IL. The packers were polite & efficient when they showed up & packed in about two days. The real nightmare started when the moving truck pulled up. This was a subcontracted trucker who was to have his own crew & didnt show. Beltman was able to get 2 men to come out.(they were both sick ,one was throwing up in my bathroom between trips). Toward the end of the day the driver threatened not to pay them. After threats to each other & the mention of a gun I called Beltman & related the story. They said they would take care of it in their office. The driver was then 8hrs late getting to MN & kept a crew waiting all day at the new house, then started to threaten the non payment again. The end result: boxes not in the right place, furniture broken or not put together correctly. Then the fight to be reimbursed for damages, which was not to our satisfaction but frustration made us quit.
