TruGreen Lawn Care - 5751

Everything went fine.

Trugreen has been my lawn service provider off and on for a couple of years.  I buy the entire year's service all at once to save some money. I have have told the company several times to not enter my fenced in backyard.  I have several large dogs that have access to the backyard via a doggie door and don't want to be liable for anything that might happen.  Also, the only thing I can grow there is weeds, but at least they are green. This last time really irritated me because they came inside the fence and killed everything that was back there. It is mid summer, so now I have big brown patches that make me mad as I walk to the pool.  I will be looking to another company next year, regardless of the cost.

it was impossible to contact local branch.  All contact is through their call center somewhere, even if you dial the local number.  Even with me calling them every other day and talking to their call center it still took over a week for someone locally to get in touch with me.  And then, instead of offering a solution to help me with my seeding dilemma,  the local Sales Manager told me that pre-emergent didn't inhibit seed germination it just created a barrier in the soil.  He said that if I just raked the bare spots that I could plant grass seed right away.  That information couldn't be more false.  How could I possibly have any confidence it an organization that doesn't even understand their own product?  My service has been cancelled.  I wouldn't let them come back on my property.

A salesman came to the door in June and asked if we wanted to participate in a big sale - $100 for four lawn treatments and no other work would be done without giving an estimate and getting approval.  I signed the contract and paid the fee.
The first treatment came and went without incident.  The lawn looked a bit better, so I was okay.  The second treatment arrived and was done.  A month later I got a bill for $35.00 for another chemical being sprayed on the lawn for some kind of "bug".  I immediately called and said that I hadn't authorized any other work and spoke to a young man who told me that he would take care of it.  A week later I got another bill for the same amount.  I called again, spoke to a young man and told him I wouldn't pay for it.  I thought it was all done but after a month I got a collection notice.  I called and spoke to yet another young man who said you mean you're not going to pay for service we did?  I told him it was unauthorized and no, I wasn't going to pay it.
Even though I paid for a year, I never saw them come back after this incident.  So they owe me two treatments but I don't want them anywhere near here again.

It went fine for a couple of years, then the yard began showing bald patches and brown grass. 

I am very happy and they advised me that there were certain bugs that had come in early and they treated them instead of cutting them off.  They have always been informative.

They did come whenever they said they were going to. They showed up for each treatment. We had crabgrass and we kept telling them we needed to get rid of it and next time they came they sprayed too much and it was killing the grass. They kept saying it would get rid of the crab grass when they sprayed but it didn't.

I am never home, so I never see them. I don't see any dandelions and I don't see any weeds, so that is the main thing. As far as I know, it is right in the price range of everybody else.

They come every six-eight weeks.  I have been using them off and on for the last seven years.  I like the ability to be able to get a hold of someone if I have a problem.  If you are not the least bit satisfied, they immediately send someone to remedy the problem.  I would recommend them.

I have contracted with Tru Green in two cities.  One contract was with the Champaign Illinois branch. That experience I would rate as high.  This contract with the Glenarm branch has been very unsatisfactory.  I have several dead burn areas in both my front and back yards.  When I called the office I was first told that strays in the neighborhood were urinating on my property.  I surveyed my neighbor's yards.  None of them had the same problem.  None of them use Tru Green.  A call back to the office and I was told there was a disease going around.  When I told them the disease was being pretty selective since none of my neighbors had it, they suggested maybe their hose had leaked and the grass had gotten a little too much herbicide or fertilizer.  Very unprofessional.  I asked them to take a soil sample to determine if the soil was sterile in those areas.  They took one sample from one area.  It has been six weeks and I have not heard back from them.  The spot is still bare.
I will not renew my contract with Tru Green next year.

My back lawn looks terrible. There are many bald spots. It looks as if there has been nothing done to the yard in at least a year. When I initiated the service I told them there were several dogs, but they said that would be no problem. When I had them out to look at how bad my yard looked, I was told there was a "disease" that they would need to treat for. I'm still waiting for that treatment. In a couple of weeks, when Spring comes, I will again be taking this up with the manager of TruGreen in the hopes he will make good on his promise of last fall to treat my lawn at no charge until it has returned to it's former condition. I couldn't honestly recommend this company to anyone.
