Jimeny Chimeny & Masonry Inc

Jimeny Chimney cleaned our condo building's four chimneys in Spring 2009 and we were pleased with the service and price. The owner James Burnett did the work himself and seemed like a knowledgable, stand-up guy running a family business. We then hired him do to tuckpointing work and signed a contact at the end of August 2009. Our $1,000 down payment check was cashed, however after rescheduling the work twice, Jimeny Chimney never performed the work nor refunded our money. His wife told us that he was in the hospital and she would send a cashier's check. But now two months later, we haven't received a check, a phone call or an explantion.They disconnected one of their phone numbers and do not respond to cell phone calls or emails. We're now having to take action too see if we can recover the money. Please be wary of doing business with this company. And don't confuse them with another company on the list with a similar name (there is a Jiminy Chimney in Woodstock with an "i"). We understand if someone is sick or injured couldn't do the work. But that doesn't excuse keeping a $1,000 downpayment. Quite frankly, that's stealing.
