Jeff Castle Carpentry

The service was great. We had to reschedule due to weather and sizing differences in the old vs. new door. He was able to take care of all the standard installation work, as well as the additional work due to the size differences in the doors. He also did extra work and did some internal woodwork for us so that the kitchen floor would properly match up with the smaller door frame as well. Price was a little more than the original quote, but this was also expected due to the extra work requested. This was also something that he mentioned at the start while quoting the price, so it was not an issue for us (and was actually less than we expected). Very happy with the work, easy to communicate with. Would use him again.

I contacted Jeff Castle, the second week of March regarding my kitchen.  I wanted to have  my kitchen cabinets refinished.  Jeff came to my home and explained to me how he would do the cabinets.  Jeff said he would remove all the doors and fill in all the holes, prepare all the doors and clean them before painting.  He quoted me a price between $900.00 and $1000.00.  I agreed to that price range.  I asked Jeff if one of the cabinets could be more like a pantry with extra shelving.  He said he could do that for me.  He quoted me a price of $200.00 for the pantry.  I agreed to that price.  The total price was $1200.00 and would pay for materials.  I asked Jeff for a written contract, he said he would bring the contract when he comes to start the job.  He insured me that the cabinets were going to look beautiful and he has been in this business for 16 years.  I arranged to take off two vacation days (3/21/16 and 3/22/16) to be home when the work was being done.  Jeff said he would be at my house 3/21/16 @ 8 in the morning.  He said it would take two days to complete the job.  On the first day, he arrives at 10am and left at 4:15pm.  Jeff pulled the doors down, filled the holes but did not prep the doors before painting.  He did not get to all the cabinet doors.  He left for the day at 4:15pm and said he would be earlier tomorrow, 3/22/16.  Jeff arrived at 10am again, continued to paint in a rush, he did not do any preparations on the cabinets, just painted them.  He hung the cabinet doors up when they were still wet.  He tried to put the paint and the protection coat when the doors were hung up.  Paint started dripping all over.  Jeff and his friend were in a hurry to leave.  They missed doing the drawers with finish.  The hinges and handles were installed crooked.  We communicated back and forth with no results.  I felt very intimidated by Jeff when he started to be discriminating making a racial comment stating that I remind him of those Indian people, they want everything for free.  At that point, I gave him a check for the amount he asked for and told him I'm done. I tried to take him to court but when the sheriff tried to serve the subpoena he would not answer the door.

Came out on a Saturday within a couple hrs after I called. Did a great job doing the repair. Jeff was very courteous and professional. Would recommend him absolutely.

Jeff replaced our rear door leading out to our deck.  We provided the door (purchased at Menards) and Jeff and an assistant replaced the door.  The installation went well.  There was some wood rot below the door threshold that he had to work around and he replaced the doorbell on the new frame.  There was an issue with the old doorknob and lock, and I had to run out for new ones (I ended up replacing all the doorknobs & locks on all the entry doors).
There was some cleanup that I would have expected him to do, but that was minor.  Overall, he did a good job and we are happy with the results.

Jeff is excellent ! I give Jeff the highest recommendation ! Jeff does excellent work at a fair price and he is always prompt and professional. I used Jeff for a whole house rehab, but you can hire Jeff for smaller individual jobs as well , and he will price that out for the customer accordingly. I plan on hiring Jeff again for all of the future jobs I need done - large or small !

Jeff is an excellent carpenter and has all the skills. The problem was with the finish. He installed two 9ft 3 panel sliders in my home and even cleaned up some rotten flooring. The carpentry part was great. The finish was poor. He rushed the caulk job and it looked horrible on the outside- very sloppy and uneven and didn't cover the whole crack(s). I had to recaulk both doors on the outside. On the inside he used NON paintable caulk on the trim that had to be painted. When i went to paint the trim work, the paint wouldn't stick. He just didn't do the finish and detail work well at all and that matters in appearance.

I got him off of Angie's List. The garage door was $250 and the front doors and the back sliding glass doors were $550 or $575. It was a very positive experience. He took time to answer a lot of questions. He definitely did quality work. I felt that he took a lot of care making sure that I was happy. The product and the service turned out to be something that I can enjoy. I would definitely give him an A on his price because I compared it to the larger firms and they were significantly higher. My only concern was that his clean up could have been a little bit better. The entire experience was good, but it would have been nice if there was a little bit more care with the clean up and that was not a showstopper at all.

I would definitely call Castle Carpentry in the future and I highly recommend this company.
