I’m happy with them. I’ve been going there a year and a half. They’re quickly available, and I have a Toyota Prius and one of their mechanics is an especially knowledgeable about Toyota Prius’. Who doesn’t want things a little cheaper.

I'm very happy with them. I'm happy with them. The things you asked, the professionalism, quality, punctuality, they are good on those. They were helpful. Well, you wouldn't call the waiting room luxurious, but it's adequate.

Over the last 18 months, we have taken our vehicles to J & R for a number of different issues. I have left there every time knowing that my vehicle was serviced well and fairly. J & R is not the most convenient location for us, but I feel confident in going there knowing that I will get my problem solved expeditiously as well as for a fair price. It is so refreshing knowing that I am getting the same quality service, if not better, that I would receive from the dealer, but I'm paying probably 1/3 of the price. I also like knowing that they're not going to "find" something else that is wrong to rack up more business.
I highly recommend J & R, and anytime time I have a friend who needs some work done on their vehicles, I always tell them to give these guys a call.

We use J&R for all our auto work that's not under warranty. Darryl and his guys are equally caring of our "good" car (2008 Nissan Altima w/ 100k+ miles) and our dearly-departed old car (1997 Geo Prizm w/ 200k). I"m not sure they're the cheapest shop around, but we care more about quality, dependable work than the absolute lowest price. They always get our work done quickly and well. Darryl is a great guy - friendly, professional, efficient.

Everything went really well. Amazingly we handled everything over the phone, dropped the truck off after hours, discussed the estimate via phone the next day, repairs were completed in a couple of hours, we handled payment over the phone and picked up the truck again after hours.
A dealer told us that we needed to replace the ball joints on my son's truck for $600 before they could do an alignment. J&R checked out the ball joints a found that they were in excellent shape and did not need to be replaced - saved us $600. 
I was really impressed by... how quickly we got the truck in - literally the next day, how quickly the work was done, how easy they were to work with, how I spoke with the owner at each contact, and how friendly they are. 
We'll definitely be back.

Got a great deal and great service on my Audi S4...saved $400 over the dealer quote, and Daryl and crew did an awesome job.

They did an excellent job and the cost was way less than I was expecting. They even silenced my squeaky door! Thanks J & R.

We were tremendously impressed. We had called ahead, but Mr. Nelson allowed us to come by when it was convenient during our own test drive. He showed us how to check that all the body parts were original, that the car had been well maintained, etc. He pointed out how the car handled during the test drive and even checked the Blue Book value to help with our negotiations. What  a thoroughly great guy. We will definitely be taking our business to him in the future.

When I dropped off, Daryl seemed very organized, confirmed with me the service I was there for, checked that all my contact was accurate and actually smiled in the process.
Daryl took care of the engine light, weak A/C and an oil change same day. None of us like to write checks for car repairs, but Daryl's cost was very competitive.  He called to tell me exactly what it would cost, then called to tell me when it was complete. When I arrived to pick it up he immediately matched me with my car.  As a previous review mentioned, Daryl showed me the old part, explained its function and then explained the effect on the car if the part isn't functioning properly.  While my car is almost 10 years old with 183,000 miles Daryl actually told me it was a great car and that I could get measurably more miles out of it rather than upselling me more service through "fear of failure."
It's apparent that Daryl has quite a following from the number -- and types - of cars on his lot.  Great service and a great experience that doesn't leave me second guessing anything. I absolutely recommend having Daryl perform your next service.  i know I will.  My only concern is that he will retire before I quit driving.

I brought my vehicles to J&R Auto Repair in Glen Ellyn on the strength of the recommendations of other Angie's List customers. Now it's my turn to applaud Daryl and his crew. The virtues of this shop are many, but I have been especially impressed with two. First of all, Daryl strives to demystify auto repair. At no point in the process of working with him have I been confused about what he planned to do or why he planned to do it. When picking the vehicle up, I found that he had brought the used parts in the front office so that he could show what went wrong and, in turn, explain how the problem was solved. I understand my vehicle better thanks to his remarks.
Secondly, Daryl clearly LOVES automobiles. He describes himself as a "physician for cars," and I think that this title is spot on. He's gone the extra mile in repairing both of my vehicles (and, quite literally, a member of his staff went the extra mile in taking my car to the inspection center for me!), and I can tell that he enjoys quality work for its own sake. In fact, he corrected a long-standing problem with one of my vehicles (which I had tried and failed to correct myself) for free simply for the joy of solving a problem.
I'm thrilled to have found this business, and I plan to use it for all automotive services going forward.

I was so happy I tried this auto shop out. I was able to drop my car off at night and leave the key and they checked the car first thing the next morning. They adjusted a belt and did not even charge me. I regret going to the dealership until now, I wish I had tried J&R auto earlier. I will definitely be using this auto shop for our car repair needs in the future. And as an added bonus, the gentleman I spoke to a couple times was very nice and professional. I highly recommend this auto shop.

The garage went above expected when it came to looking my car over for problems.  Was a great experience.  This was long ago, dont remember all the details, but remember they did a great job.

Highly recommend!  Brought my 2009 CRV to J&R Auto Repair for diagnostic inspection.  They completed a full vehicle inspection and were very upfront, honest and accommodating to my schedule.  Will definitely use again for all automotive repair needs.
