"Thanks [Member Name Removed]. We appreciate the business."
"To anyone interested in the truth. The initial appointment was scheduled for Tuesday, September 12th between 11:30 AM and 12:30 not 8 AM. We give a window of time that we will arrive. The job was scheduled and the customer was told we would arrive between 7 and 8 AM. If I could post pictures like the customer can, I would provide all Angie's List members physical proof of everything I am saying. If you are interested, contact us and I will provide them for you. We, created the drawings, submitted for the permit at no charge to the customer. The plans were approved by the village and the permit was issued to perform the work, crawl space encapsulation with a drain tile system, The customers existing sump pump was discharging/ejecting into the waste stack that sends all waste to the city sewer system. This configuration is illegal in [Member Information Removed] and 95% of the cities in Illinois because the city does not want to process clear rain water. Municipal Code requires that the clear water from the sump pump be discharged and ejected as close to center of property as possible. All work was inspected by the city inspector and passed with flying colors. We have all the documentation if anyone would like to see it. The customer was kept informed every step of the way. I have this same configuration at my home. Although it is not very pretty it is very effective. After we left, the customer chose to add a black flex hose (seen in picture) to bring the water out even further. That hose froze which is inevitable. Anybody who owns a garden hose and leaves out in the winter knows it will freeze and thus stop water flow. The customer was offered a "bubble pot" but declined. The customers crawl space was filled with garbage and we removed and disposed of it at no charge even though we had to pay for disposal. The customers existing check valve was leaking and created a small puddle in the crawl space. We went back the next day and gave her a brand new check valve for free. Some cities will allow you or even require (mandatory) the sump pump ejection lines be connected to the city storm sewer. [Member Information Removed] does not require or make it mandatory. Again, there are specific codes that must be met and this type of connection can be very expensive. the customer was told of the costs involved and declined. When we install concrete in a crawl space we put down 10 mil vapor barrier because concrete will crack. It states clearly on our proposal that we do not warranty concrete against cracking. The vapor barrier keeps gasses, vapor and water from reaching the surface of the concrete slab and keeps the humidity level and containment's that come from the ground at bay, The concrete is finished with a hand float finish and not a hard trowel finish or "patio finish". It's a crawl space, not a sidewalk or patio and it would be a lot more expensive to put wire, control joints and a patio finish. The customer was very happy and complimented Jason and the crew for a great job then six months later she writes this. Not fair or true. Sincerely Steve Gavin President"
"It's amazing a customer can come back 5 months after the job was done and do this. These 4 are a lie: Punctuality D - they live less than a mile from the shop - we were never late. Rating - A Responsiveness D- they had my cell phone number and I answered or called them right back. - A Overall D - I was there not true - A PriceC - they went with us because we had the best price. A The customer was told and knew that breaking out concrete and reinstalling concrete was going to be messy and we went in and out through the basement window to avoid going through the house to minimize dust and tracking in anything. We protected everything with plastic, even stuff upstairs. Every question the customer had was addressed immediately by me personally. I went back personally to help clean up as the customer stood over us to make sure it was to their satisfaction. I have dealt with customers like this before and did not want to give them any reason not to pay. Their statements and ratings are meant to harm and are retaliatory even though we did everything promised plus more. The customer was suppose to pay in full upon completion and did not. They held back payment caused an unpaid balance in our accounting system. I am doing end of year to collect many unpaid balances and I sent an email to collect the small balance and got shut down by the customer saying basically i'm not paying without any hesitation or willingness to look at it. After giving them free window well drains, a couple of free cracks, breaking out concrete in their old egress window opening, etc., the customer wanted more and expected other stuff for free, like connecting their sump discharge to the storm sewer. It was obvious that this customer wanted to pay the bill he made up which is what happened. As a courtesy, we pull permits for customers. The permit is the customer's permit, not ours. I was expected to call and setup the customer's appointment for final inspection which we are not required to be at to get our final payment held back by the customer. I basically had to be their secretary to get the money owed which was about 10% of the project and I had previous trouble getting the initial payment. One phone call to the village by the customer was all that was required and I got held hostage to set his appointments for him. That is demeaning and extortion and was not promised. The only person who did not do as they said was the customer. They did not pay upon completion as promised and used that payment to get more. We have done over 5000 basements and have very few complaints. Through these historic rains 99.9% of the basements we did stayed dry including this customer who gets remain anonymous. They get a dry basement and a bunch of free stuff and I get a bad reputation. No good deed goes unpunished. Fair? One day their will be a Yelp for contractors so we can keep track of the reputation of our potential customers. The customer is not always right yet they get to say whatever they want, even if it is false, with impunity. Steve Gavin President"
"I apologize. We were short handed in the office and you call back was not logged into our system. If you haven't solved the problem. Please give us a call. Thanks, Steve Gavin President"
